Z/OS Mainframe Systems Engineer - REMOTE

 This nationwide insurance industry leader has an immediate 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity for a Z/OS Mainframe Systems Engineer.  Can work 100% remotely from anywhere in the United States, working CST hours. Will be responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing, and maintenance of mainframe operating systems software. Requires a strong understanding of mainframe systems programming and control languages. This can involve writing code, testing code for bugs and working with other developers to ensure all components of the mainframe function properly.  Will modify and/or debug vendor-supplied utilities and packages.  Will modify, install and prepare technical documentation for system software applications.  Will diagnose and debug software problems and perform problem resolution.  Will monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and be responsible for the execution of disaster recovery procedures.  Will help ensure a stable environment which is critical to the success of the company.

This position requires:

  • Experience with z/OS operations and security Z/OS Operation

  • JES2 Operation and Internals

  • Z/OS Security (ACF2)

  • Z/OS Networking (VTAM, TCPIP)

  • Z/OS Scheduling, Automation (CA-7)

  • SMP/E Software

  • WorkLoad Manager

  • JCL

  • VSAM

  • TSO

  • 3rd Party Software (Broadcom including CA products, BMC products, etc.)

  • Assembler
