Windows Systems Engineer

This nationwide industry leader has an immediate 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity in Irving, TX for a Windows Systems Engineer.  This Systems Engineer position requires working onsite Monday-Friday in a small team environment. Will be responsible for providing day-to-day administrative and top-level engineering support for the organization’s IT infrastructure, supporting approximately 90-100 US based locations. Will be responsible for supporting the daily monitoring, alerting and maintenance of systems including, Servers, Email, Anti-Virus, Active Directory, Endpoints, etc.   This position is a part of the IT Team and will work closely with other team members to collectively troubleshoot, design, monitor, enhance and support the overall infrastructure of the organization.

This position requires:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3+ years of multi-site infrastructure experience with Windows Server 2012-2022, Windows 10.
  • Expertise in migrating from Exchange On Prem to O365/Azure.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Strongly prefer knowledge/experience with the following:
  • Hypervisors (Scale, Hyper-V, Nutanix), Antivirus, DHCP, Backups, SQL, Proofpoint
  • Evidence of experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • Proven ability to successfully and efficiently monitor systems
  • Proven scripting skills (PowerShell, VB, Batch etc.)
  • Networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • Linux experience.
Systems Engineer responsibilities include:
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Migrating from Exchange On Prem to Office 365 in Azure Cloud.
  • Oversight of infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Ability to see potential issues and proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure accessibility.
  • Monitor and test performance of applications, foreseeing potential bottlenecks and identifying possible solutions.
  • Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies.
  • Writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower downtime due to required human intervention.
  • Work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems.
  • Consistently and successfully provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Utilize strong communication skills as a liaison with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Document work in a shared location and train tier 1 team on new processes.
  • Utilize knowledge of ticketing and ITSM systems to track and get approvals on critical work.
