Small privately held organization seeking a seasoned SQL Server DBA to join their growing team in Decatur focused on advancing how the state of GA does business!  

Day-to-day:

  • Aid application developers by offering advice on database best practices, offers production support, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate in the design and development of databases to accommodate application requirements
  • Perform all database upgrades and migrations applying SQL best practices
  • Anticipate and respond to technological innovations relating to SQL Server or relational databases in general
  • Define and implement database access levels and ensure overall database security
  • Monitor all databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementation
  • Address a variety of database integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications
  • Develop, implement, and maintain regular maintenance procedures
  • Help to facilitate the constantly increasing demand for access to data
  • Design, develop, document, implement, and periodically tests disaster recovery and archiving procedures
  • Create and maintain data distribution schemes to replicate data to various sites
  • Perform regular backups of all databases and test those backups on a daily basis
  • Create, procure, and maintain various database-related documents such as manuals and programmers’ handbooks
  • Provide 24-hour on-call support relating to database issues
  • Create and maintain current ERDs for all databases
  • Perform SQL Server upgrades when needed
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Ideal candidate has a good mix of the following:

  • 8+ years experience as production DBA
  • Experience with database upgrades and migrations
  • Experience with managing large (TB+) databases and tables with millions of rows
  • Experience with High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Microsoft Cluster
  • Failover Clustering (Always On: FCI & AG) design and configuration
  • Expert level experience in SQL replication technologies, Merge and Transactional replication Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
  • Transact-SQL, stored procedure creation, execution plans
  • Index tuning
  • SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) SQL 2016 – SQL 2022
  • SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
  • Database maintenance plans
  • Database Partitioning
  • Troubleshooting and metric analysis with SQL Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Performance Monitor and Query Store
  • Relational database diagramming software
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
