Key Qualifications 

  • 10+ years in the networking industry 

  • Aruba ClearPass experience, Palo Alto experience, and Solar Winds, DNA Center experience desirable.

  • CCNP equivalent or higher preferred but not required 

  • Comprehensive understanding of Wi-Fi technologies, experience designing WLAN environments and skills required to run and support use of RF across a mix of physical spaces 

  • In-depth understanding of firewall, SD-WAN, VPNs, and switches 

  • Experience developing network design standards, product evaluation, automated deployments, and solution documentation 

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of IPSec tunnels, firewalls, OSPF, QoS and DNS/DHCP 

  • Advanced knowledge of layer 2 switching in ethernet technologies for delivering user access over copper and fiber mediums 

  • Experience with network security using wired and wireless 802.1x, EAP-TLS authentication 

  • Knowledge in network monitoring protocols 

  • Experience with network automation toolsets 

  • The ability to lead technical teams through network engineering challenges via exceptional technical leadership, teamwork, collaboration, rapid decision making and interpersonal skills   

  • The ability to effectively collaborate and negotiate with business partners to gather requirements and to apply a customer-focused mindset when presenting proposed solutions  

  • Deep knowledge and experience with design, configuration, deployment, and automation of enterprise network equipment 

  • Passion for engaging with new and challenging circumstances every day 

  • Desire to learn continuously, embrace new systems and services, enjoy changes and additions to or transitions of duties as needed 

  • Cyber security mindset and adherence 

  • Experience leading projects from start to finish 

  • Clear, effective technical documentation skills 

  • ServiceNow experience desired 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop repeatable standard designs, deployment methodologies, documentation playbooks and support procedures 

  • Introduce new network capabilities and solutions as the business needs change  

  • Evolve standard solution sets to ensure technology / designs are fresh, healthy, modernized, and capable of meeting the growing capacity requirements 

  • Define and test solution resiliency, reliability, and recovery methodologies over time to ensure we are using optimal practices and processes 

  • Support multi-vendor networking products implemented across different sites while partnering with internal business teams to enhance business capabilities and the technology environment 

  • Handle increased capacity demands, deploy solutions to measure utilization of key elements in the infrastructure and partner with the business to understand growth 

  • Resolve incidents and fulfill change requests related to network technologies in adherence to ITIL standards 

  • Provide technical direction and expertise to other technical members of project and support teams 

  • Create and maintain procedures and knowledge articles for internal and external support teams 

  • Utilize ServiceNow platform for documentation and transparency of work intake for networking support 

  • Adhere to department standards on time reporting for tasks/projects 

  • Work as a team to monitor data networks and remediate outages and performance issues, while working with carriers and vendors 

  • Advise on viability and feasibility of alternative approaches 

  • On call outside regular business hours – including a standard rotation of nights and weekends  

  • Lead/participate proof-of-concept projects and other projects as needed 

  • Provide remote support via voice/video with onsite staff or smart-hands dispatch 

  • Occasional travel across the US  

 

Education 

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Network/Telecommunications, or equivalent experience
