Senior Network and Datacenter Administrator

This international industry leader in Roanoke, VA has an immediate 6-12+ month contract-to-hire opportunity for a Senior Network and Datacenter Administrator.  Requires working onsite at least 2-3 days per week and up to 25% travel.  Will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing the enterprise-wide IT infrastructure of the organization. Will be analyzing system requirements and ensuring that systems are secure and integrated with current applications. Will be ensuring that all systems are working at optimal levels and supporting network and operations departments with regard to new technologies and system requirements.  This position requires a deep understanding of Nutanix, Microsoft, VMware & Cisco on-prem equipment, and cloud-based service offerings.  This position also requires a proficiency in SCCM/MECM and Powershell Automation.

This position offers the ability to work remotely but must able to come onsite if needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designing state-of-the-art technical solutions on-premise, and in the cloud, to address requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Automating installations and implementation for provisioning and operating infrastructure in a reliable and repeatable method.
  • Together with the infrastructure team, participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for incidents.
  • Providing periodic off-hours on-call support for production and development teams.
  • Working closely with a team of architects, and engineers, and acting as the SME for Network, Datacenter, and related requests.
  • Creating functional design specifications for on-prem & cloud reference architectures and assisting with other network and related project deliverables as needed.
  • Conducting monthly security scans and installation of security patches as required.
  • Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly system maintenance as required
  • Implementing operating system enhancements that will improve reliability.
  • Interacting with software, systems, IT engineering, and/or applications development to restore service.
  • Ensuring long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software. Implementing operating system enhancements that will improve reliability.
  • Monitoring the performance of the overall network and collaboration systems.
  • Maintaining current trends and a high level of technical skill in the field of expertise.
  • Escalating more complex problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5-10+ years of network and datacenter experience.
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience with Nutanix, Microsoft, VMware & Cisco on-prem equipment, and cloud-based service offerings.
  • Strong working knowledge of Office365 and AzureAD.
  • Requires certifications in Azure, AWS, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP and/or CCIE.  
  • Proficiency in SCCM/MECM and Powershell Automation.
  • Experience with Azure NSGs, Routing Tables, Apps Gateways, and Traffic Managers.
  • Working knowledge of Public & Private Cloud Virtualization.
  • Working knowledge of Network Infrastructure devices.
  • Network Load balancers like F5/NetScaler.
  • Extensive experience with Disaster Recovery, including the development of and implementation of the architecture to support.
  • Experience in troubleshooting Enterprise Applications.
  • Experience with architecture and implementation of enterprise storage solutions.
  • Experience with architecture and implementation of enterprise backup solutions, including physical and virtual environments as well as client systems.
  • Experience in capacity planning and management.
  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages.
  • Converged Infrastructure

  • Best practice implementation of WAN, Disaster Recover, and multi-site UC architecture.
  • Microsoft Teams
  • LAN/WAN routing and switching deployments for voice and video
  • Use of Cisco troubleshooting tools and support services
  • General knowledge of virtualization and Cloud Computing
  • Microsoft OS: 2012\2016\2019 Server and Windows 7/10
  • Cisco Firewalls and Switching
  • Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services
  • Server hardware installation & administration
  • Enterprise backup software installation & administration
  • Ability to install, setup, and configure systems
  • Ability to document system changes and installation procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose hardware and/or software problems
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to conduct training and informational sessions
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
