This international financial services industry leader has immediate full-time needs in Cary, NC for a Senior Java Engineer.  This Vice President level role requires working onsite at least 2 days per week in a hybrid working model. Will work in a technical environment that includes Java 8/11, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, Oracle 12/19, NoSQL, Spark, Linux, and GCP. This Senior Engineer is responsible for designing and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of this role include ensuring that solutions are well architected, with maintainability and ease of testing built in from the outset, and that they can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow. Will have gained significant experience through multiple implementations and have begun to develop both depth and breadth in a number of engineering competencies. Requires extensive knowledge of design and architectural patterns. Will provide engineering thought leadership within the teams, and will play a role in mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities:
•    Recommending information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating platform outcomes.
•    Making design decisions, recommend new technology/frameworks with a vision for the platform.
•    Mentoring junior members within the team.
•    Evaluate technology risk analysis, recommend disaster recovery plan and procedure.
•    Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time.
•    Recommend, automate and streamline processes where needed; build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring of platform.
•    Creating end-to-end solutions across several distinct delivery streams for the Convertible business.
•    Have a high visibility to our clients which require interaction with many Front Office groups, i.e., traders, sales, business management, compliance and risk management teams, Finance groups and middle Office
•    Interact with many teams within Application Services, and with the production services group who are responsible for supporting applications and services once they have been released to production

Requirements:
•    10+ years of experience with Java including (JMS, JDBC, Spring, etc), Web Development (e.g., node.js, angular), exposure to distributed, high-throughput systems as well as experience with agile software development processes
•    Experience in development of cloud native apps, skills in devops and continuous delivery.
•    Hands on SQL knowledge including relational database design, writing complex queries, creating stored procedures, triggers, and functions (e.g., Knowledge of Data Science and AI or ML). Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environment and familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl and Python
•    Experience with scheduling frameworks. Experience with OS like Linux – shell, commands. 
•    Ability to develop unit testable code using jUnit and mocking frameworks. Have worked with automated testing (e.g., Cucumber) and have exposure to all phases of implementing a system - initial design through to production and beyond
•    Knowledge of Apache frameworks, JBAX, JPA, EJB3, Hibernate, REST, HTML5, UX, Memcached, Hadoop, swarm or similar
•    Solid understanding of computer science from the ground up as well as strong communication skills
•    Experience with reactive programming is a plus. 
•    Experience with NOSQL, distributed database, in-memory cache is a plus. 
•    Experience with streaming framework is a plus. 
•    SQL experience is a plus.
