Position: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Remote)
Location: Des Moines, IA 50392 - Remote
Term: 12 months

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Independently conduct analysis and development, requirements, coding, automated testing, debugging, designing, documentation, quality assurance review, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and trade-offs in the area.
  • Demonstrate independence working in more than one system.
  • Participate in technical design of features.
  • Focus on attaining expertise in more technical areas.
  • Some specific responsibilities include the following:
    • Designing, configuring, installing, maintaining, migrating, and upgrading Mainframe subsystems (CICS, MQ, Db2, etc.) along with their supporting applications.
    • Candidate must be invested in improving and providing/assisting with the technical direction.
    • Work with vendors on problem resolution by gathering accurate and sufficient documentation and understanding the issue thoroughly enough to ensure the vendor is on target and handling the problem with appropriate priority.
    • Thrive on solving unique problems using advanced analytical skills.
    • Experienced installing, configuring, and supporting ISV software.
    • Ability to effectively document and transfer acquired knowledge to others.
    • Ability to effectively train and mentor others.
    • Provide on-call rotational support and customer support.
    • Assist with the modernization of our mainframe systems to AWS.
  • Some travel may be required, including overnight stays.
  • May be required to provide on-call support.
  • Comply with a Code of Ethics which covers a number of obligations related to personal and business conduct as well as personal trading activities for you and members of your household. These same requirements may also apply to other positions across the organization.

Is this a good fit? (Requirements):
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Math-related field).
  • 6+ years of work experience as an Infrastructure Engineer.
  • Proven experience as an IT professional.
  • Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Some specific qualifications include:
    • Troubleshooting skills to identify and fix complex issues and determine ‘root cause’.
    • Experience with installing/upgrading and applying maintenance to a variety of products (examples include: CICS, MQ, DB2, IBM Tooling, etc.).
    • Demonstrated effectively train and mentor others as well as documenting solutions.
    • Self-starter with the ability to learn about new technologies independently.
    • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Desire and ability to learn new technology and continuously grow.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and Non-IT partners.

  • Understanding of COBOL and REXX languages.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products.
  • Basic leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
