This leading North American transportation and logistics company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst.  This position requires working in the Addison, TX office 2-3 days per week.  This Senior BI Analyst will need to turn large amounts of data into concise meaningful reports for executive management. Will provide modeling support and analyze financial information to assist senior executive management with strategic planning, raising capital, and identifying & closing acquisitions. Will analyze the profitability, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations and make appropriate recommendations to the management team; as well as lead the development efforts for dashboards and reports to support operational excellence and Executive Management initiatives. The position will require presenting and discussing detailed findings and recommendations to senior management.  

Responsibilities:

• Leveraging data mining techniques to transform large amounts of data from various sources into a clear and compelling story, including SQL, building models and scorecards and interpreting data.
• Development & implementation of BI infrastructure for accurately capturing and sharing company data resources.
• Development of business intelligence tools and analytic applications to enable end users the access and ability to analyze data.
• Designing and building of reporting and dashboards in our BI platform.
• Extracting data from databases to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems or business operating companies.
• Analyzing competitive market strategies through analysis of related product, market, or share trends.
• Managing timely flow of business intelligence information to users.
• Collecting business intelligence data from available industry reports, public information, field reports, or purchased sources.
• Identifying and recommending new ways to improve profitability by making data driven recommendations for streamlining business processes/
• Leveraging relationships to improve the data and information posture of the enterprise.
• Researching industry trends and key market information for continuous improvement.
• Stewarding data by troubleshooting data quality through data cleansing and validation.
• Providing technical leadership to team members to help develop and expand their skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Information technology or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics/report development.
• Advanced problem-solving skills; eager to tackle complex and ambiguous problems with minimal supervision.
• Advanced SQL skills: complex joins, aggregations, analytical functions, subqueries, case statements, integrating multiple data sources and query optimization tuning.
• Experience creating dashboards, charts, graphs for presentations; ability to present data in an easily understandable format using Excel, Tableau, PowerBI or any other data visualization tool.
• Experience with SQL Server, Teradata, AWS, Hadoop, Alteryx, etc.
• Ability to multi-task; Must be a self-starter and with the ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong intellectual curiosity and proactive willingness to learn new skills and software to advance analytical capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of accounting and financial statements
• Experience with statistical software or programming packages (Python, R etc.)
• Trucking or Logistics industry experience
• MBA or other advanced degree
