The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a leader within their product group. They are servant leaders and coaches for their Agile Release Train (ART) with the main responsibilities of facilitating ART events, processes, and the delivery of technical work within teams and stakeholders around them.


Essential Functions

  • Facilitates ART level processes and execution, manages dependencies, escalates impediments, manages risk, and helps to drive program-level continuous improvement
  • Collaborates with other ART leadership team members (Product Manager, Tech Lead) on the overall management of the ART
  • Understands the product strategy and enterprise strategy and helps ensure Program Increment (PI) outcomes are aligned to both
  • Helps configure Agile for the organization, standardizing and documenting processes
  • Manages and optimizes the flow of value via the Program Kanban
  • Reports status to Lean Portfolio Management team
  • Brings all groups into the product framework, and ensures it is ready and runs smoothly to meet its business objectives
  • Assists with execution and tracking of PI planning metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of combined in-depth experience in Agile/Scrum, SDLC, solutions design, and delivery of solutions, with 1 or more years as an RTE.
  • Certified RTE required
  • Excels in systems thinking and critical thinking
  • Deep understanding of the Agile principles and how they are applied in workplace culture
  • Experience with conflict resolution, mentoring, servant leadership, and the Scrum Master role
  • Strong facilitation skills within teams and larger groups
  • Experience resolving issues with higher levels of management
  • An excellent communicator and motivator
  • Background and drug screen


Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more additional SAFe certifications (SA, PM/PO SP, CSM, CSPO, CSP, PSM, PSPO) are highly desirable
  • Significant experience leading the creation and maturation of the RTE role, as well as the effective execution of the role.
  • Additional college experience would be beneficial
  • Consulting experience in helping organizations adopt and mature a SAFe practice
  • Experience implementing SAFe in a FinTech or other innovative organization
  • Experience implementing SAFe in a regulated environment
