Cisco Network Manager - Decatur, GA
Privately held services organization seeking a hands-on Network Manager for their growing team in the Decatur, GA area.
The Network Manager holds primary responsibility for implementing, maintaining, and supporting secure connectivity to and from all network resources . This includes all switching, routing, firewalling, VPN, External DNS, application load-balancing, and DNS failover in a multi-datacenter environment with approximately 160 WAN network nodes. The Network Manager is accountable for directing staff, planning and executing projects, and providing client-focused service to drive successful business outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as the organization's primary networking subject matter expert and holds responsibility for the overall reliability and integrity of the network
- Performs day-to-day management, mentoring, and professional development of the Network team
- Delegates tasks and projects according to departmental and organizational goals, refining priorities when necessary
- Drives the on-time delivery of all network infrastructure projects through planning, coordinating, executing, and by directing all subordinate and cross-functional resources
- Proactively manages and updates department processes; institutes and promotes best practices through documentation, standards development, and reporting
- Creates, maintains, and distributes technical documentation on all system designs and configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and network acceptable use policies
- Oversees network security measures and identifies potential risks to ensure sufficient mechanisms are in place to protect systems and data
- Conducts research and leads efforts to determine and deploy the appropriate tools and technologies to improve operational efficiency and security
- Serves as an escalation point and resource for problem identification and resolution for direct reports and other internal staff
- Collaborates across departments to ensure network maintenance, projects, and compliance standards meet performance, security, and business objectives
- Provides technical leadership in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and maintenance
- Builds relationships with customers and other stakeholders to better understand needs to ensure exceptional service
- Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting, preparing, and adhering to an annual budget based on recurring expenses and proposed projects
- Designs, deploys, and supports LANs, WANs, network appliances, load balancers, routers, switches, and other hardware
- Designs network topologies and architectures for a LAN\WAN environment to resolve complex organizational needs
- Configures and supports LAN\WAN, Internet circuits and virtual private network connections (VPN)
- Monitors the network for uptime, utilization, latency, and overall performance
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with other team members
- Reviews reports to ensure the uptime, performance, resource availability, and security of the networks managed within operational guidelines, escalating concerns as needed
- Troubleshoots and analyzes the network to quickly restore service in case of network failures
- Documents all changes to system settings and configurations
- Participates in planned and on-call after-hours support for infrastructure changes and outages
- Works with internet service providers, vendors, and county IT departments to facilitate network changes and maintenance
- Engages in continuing education to remain up to date on networking best practices and new industry standards
- Supports wireless network Infrastructure
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- CCNA certification is required; CCNP Enterprise, Data Center, or Security is preferred
- 10+ years’ experience of designing, managing, and maintaining Cisco networks
- Experience leading teams and managing direct reports
- Project Management skills
- Big IP F5
- Must possess strong ability to document and design network infrastructure
- Experience with Cisco PIX/ASA/FWSM Firewalls
- Familiar with the functions of Cisco’s ACS AAA and NAC framework
- Advanced understanding of routers, firewalls, layer 3 switches, and network protocols
- Expert level knowledge with application load balancing
- Implementation of NAT, Policy NAT, Policy PAT, Twice NAT, Manual, after-auto NAT features
- Must be familiar with application layer traffic and network devices that can affect the application layer
- Expert with routed IP networks, including detailed knowledge of access lists, source-based routing, QOS, SNMP management, and router protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Expert in network security, policy generation, intrusion detection, and industry best practices
- Must have highly developed LAN optimization skills, including VLAN setup, DMZ configurations, gigabit Ethernet cabling, and switching, EtherChannel, and PVST+ Spanning-tree configuration and troubleshooting
- Strong background in WAN technology is required, with emphasis placed on the following WAN technologies: ATM, Frame Relay, DSL, MPPP, Wireless Bridging, WIC installation and configuration
- Experience with PCI compliant security implementations on network infrastructure
