Network Engineer

Our client is seeking a Network Engineer for a 6+ month contract opportunity in the DFW area! The Network Engineer will implement, maintain, and support network infrastructures. You will be part of the Network Operations team that is responsible for designing, implementing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring network performance
  • Ensure system availability and reliability
  • Administrating various devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, WiFi, VOIP/Voice)
  • Maintaining systems software (upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations)
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Work with vendors, contracted 3rd parties and employees for problem resolution


Requirements

  • Minimum of 5yrs experience in IT field as network SME/Engineer/support staff
  • Network certifications a plus, CCNA preferred
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Some travel required US/Mexico
  • Physically ability to install, upgrade and repair equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Combination of remote and in-office hours
