    • 90% on PREM within current environment

Title:  Global Infrastructure Cloud Engineer

The Global Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the global operation, maintenance and management, covering Data Center on premise Infrastructure, as well as the firms SaaS, PaaS and IaaS platforms. The Global Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer will also be responsible for deploying and troubleshooting the core cloud stack and data centre infrastructure, ensuring the security of both environments is up to the required levels.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, Cyber Security and Application Architects to evaluate and identify optimal cloud and on premise data center solutions
  • Modify and improve existing Cloud, compute, storage and backup systems, documenting changes
  • Develop and deploy modular Cloud-based systems
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with the MB's Security Policies and best practices in Cloud Security and data center infrastructure architectures
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve Cloud and on premise datacenter infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues
  • Regularly review existing systems and makes recommendations for improvements
  • Interact with diverse IT teams at MB, providing infrastructure and Cloud support and make recommendations based on their requirements
  • Develop, maintain and document Cloud and Infrastructure best practices, guidelines, and guardrails for Cloud and on premise technologies
  • Create clear & concise documentation of Cloud and on premise data center infrastructure development and standards
  • Ensure the CMDB is updated with all new/decommissioned cloud instances/subscriptions added/removed from Mayer Brown services
  • Provide automation enhancements to help keep the environment consistent, ease large tasks, ensure compliance, and helps with life cycle management
  • Operationalize solutions from proof-of-concept through production, using automation for repeatability, maintainability, and to enforce standards
  • Work with vendor partners to test and benchmark new hardware/software and virtualization technologies. Provides findings to Infrastructure Architects team and appropriate levels of management
  • Attend regular vendor meetings for areas of expertise, stays informed of latest technology roadmaps, security notifications, and bug/hot fixes
  • Ensure vendors provide proper levels of support, maintain SLA’s and provide root cause analysis for escalated issues
  • Work with application and infrastructure architects, application teams, and other infrastructure groups to ensure both new and existing systems follow BC/DR guidelines, have documented plans, and are tested and reviewed on a yearly basis
  • Ensure all team, departmental and firm policies and procedures are adhered to, including change management and service continuity
  • Complete all administrative tasks, i.e., (time tracking, project and task updates, trouble ticket notes, status reports, responding to email, etc.) accurately and on time
  • Communicate and collaborates with all members of the Data Center Engineering, IT Operations team, as well as other IT teams as needed
  • Foster trust and builds relationships with the other Information Technology teams both globally and within the region
  • Act as third level escalation point for the IT Operations team
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
  • Microsoft Azure Certification is required
  • VMware Certification is preferred
WHATCHA BEEN UP TO?
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, to include experience working with Microsoft Azure, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS platforms required.
  • Prior experience working with Azure AD, ADFS and On-Premise AD required
  • Prior experience working with Azure M5 Suite is preferred
  • Prior experience working in a global setting, preferred
  • Prior experience working on Data Center Infrastructure, such as compute, virtualization, storage and backup environments, preferred
THE NUTS AN BOLTS -
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, required
  • Knowledge and experience with CI/CD using Azure DevOps, required
  • Knowledge and experience with PowerShell, JSON (arm) and XML, required
  • Knowledge of Information Security best practices for Azure, required
  • Knowledge of MCAS, preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Storage, preferred
  • Knowledge of encryption Key Management, preferred
  • Knowledge of VMware, SAN/NAS storage, Compute, Backup solutions, advantageous
