Direct hire opportunity for an experienced Financial Application Lead with Professional Services Experience and ERP application experience working on a web-based system! Prefer local to Chicago and willing to go onsite a few days a week but if you have the skills, let's talk!

Essential Functions

  • Liaise between Firm management, sponsors
  • Assist in setting team priorities
  • Assist in maintaining Team training strategy
  • Participates in feasibility studies, time/cost benefit estimates, and the analysis and recommendation of vendors/products based on RFP/RFI exercises
  • Serve as technical lead on projects of increasing size and complexity
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including the project brief, project plans, communications plans, project team status, executive status reports, project roles & responsibilities.
  • Participates in business requirements
  • Defines and creates project plans and engages required participants for technology proofs-of-concept
  • Responsible for the strategic technical architecture, software authoring standards, methodologies and processes, technical project management, implementation planning, and software maintenance, primarily for, but not limited to, Accounting, Finance, Procurement and Pricing applications
  • Manages critical data integration processes
  • Liaise with third party suppliers with regard to architecture, maintenance, support and problem solving
  • Establish, define and maintain the overall architecture of the financial applications suite
  • Coaches the Application team in the overall architecture and development of the application solutions
  • Participates in rotational 24 x 7 application support ensuring that the application portfolio uptime is maintained according to defined SLA’s
  • Participates in selection and maintenance of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications as assigned, including requirements gathering, analysis, software selection, implementation, integration, upgrades, documentation, as well as day to day problem resolution and production support
  • Participates in hardware and/or software R & D efforts, primarily for Accounting applications
  • Manages security projects and tasks related to the Financial Applications security vulnerabilities as directed by the Global Information Security Group
  • Collaborates with other staff in IT to ensure that security standards are developed and enforced in implementing or upgrading firm technology
  • Collaborates with Financial Application team peers to ensure that security standards are enforced in Financial Application technology
  • Possess a detailed understanding of business processes as they relate to Accounting systems and evaluates business processes automation opportunities and recommends improvement

 

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job

 

Professional Experience:

  • 5+ years in the technology industry with experience in a Profession Services industry (e.g. Accounting Firm, Consulting Firm, Law Firm, etc.) and familiarity with applications that support the Firm’s Accounting department (i.e. time and billing, budgeting, cost recovery, etc.)
  • 5+ years Application experience working with ERP, client/server, web-based systems

 

Technical Skills:

  • Experience and familiarity of Aderant Expert (or similar Financial Applications package) preferred
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, network, application and systems engineering. SQL Server experience required
  • 5+ years Application experience working with ERP, client/server, web-based systems
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Project

 

Management Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in application architecture with an emphasis on usability

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong adaptability to changing organizational needs; capability to drive implementation and evolution of IT departmental project management practices

 

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • May require travel to other offices as needed (Optional)
