Job Description
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for leading the architecture, design, and store layout teams that work to strategically use store space to enhance our customer experience. This technology leader collaborates with cross-functional teams and adds value by leveraging his/her knowledge and experiences of store design and customer flow
Responsibilities
Creates and implements designs on new stores and remodels managing internal and external consultants, vendors, and associate relationships to execute prototype and site-specific construction documents
- Leads the store planning to create customer-centric layouts, millwork packages, and equipment selections that maximize store profitability, address operational efficiencies, and standardize schematics
- Evaluates and implements specification standards to facilitate a scalable design program for equipment, finishes, millwork, and standard layouts
- Creates design concepts for long-term key strategic initiatives such as a travel centers, food programs, and store concepts
- Develops all aspects of the physical store experience and manages the team to continually enhance the existing store environment
- Works with Development and Engineering to develop and maintain store design standards
- Supports the testing of various initiatives and the needs of the organization (including strategic remodel opportunities, merchandise planform expansions and merchandise/food testing)
- Partners closely with Store Operations to ensure alignment with associate approach/experience, store labor strategies, and services
- Partners closely with the Insights & Analytics team to drive clear consumer insights & analytics to develop data/insight-driven evolution and experience vision
- Partners with the Real Estate, Development and Construction team to ensure all store projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Partner closely with the Merchandising team and Brand partners to bring to life brand-appropriate, in-store experiences
- Continually explores new ways to reduce store capital expense while maintaining or enhancing the store experience
- Maintains strong formal and informal networks by building relationships across a variety of functions to achieve shared objectives
- 15+ years of experience in an enterprise architecture role in retail store layout
- Strong knowledge of store systems technologies including store network connectivity and network device management, point of sales systems, back-office applications – like inventory mgmt. applications, etc.
- Strong knowledge enterprise architecture frameworks like Zachman and TOGAF
- Strong knowledge of system integration, inter-system communication tools like web services and ESB, and APIs (RESTful, TMF, etc.).
