This Dallas-Ft. Worth based healthcare solution provider has an immediate long-term contract opportunity (with strong chance for extension or conversion) for an Application DBA.  Can work remotely from anywhere in the United States.  This position requires:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 year experience as an Application DBA and System DBA.
  • Ability to work with developers to understand the datamodel and to write or update SQL as an Application DBA.
  • 1 year experience with PostgreSQL including performing/tuning/metrics.  Must be technically proficient in the various Postgres configuration parameters plus SQL optimization (indices, normalization, etc.)
  • 1 year experience with AWS, or similar Cloud (ie. Azure, GCP)
  • 1 year experience with SQL Queries.
  • Knowledge of database best practices.
  • Understanding of database information security.
  • Knowledge/experience with JSONB.
  • Aggressive approach to researching and resolving customer issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus (Familiarity with healthcare back-office procedures and systems).
This DBA will join a small but growing company, working in a team-oriented environment with a wide range of responsibilities.  This DBA role will encompass system, operational, and application DBA functions, as well as data analyst and DevOps tasks. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Resolving internal and external client issues with the application suite.
  • Will work closely with the developers to understand the datamodel and work with the team to understand business requirements and write or update SQL to efficiently read/write data.
  • Analyzing queries and improving performance.
  • Improving monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Creating and maintaining batch processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST.
  • Performing data modeling and design.
  • Learning the existing data model and associated business rules so as to write data validation reports and SQL Queries.
  • Participating in DevOps tasks with the AWS DevOps team.
  • AWS RDS Postgres migration from v10 to v13 utilizing IaC.
  • Performance and tuning with application developers.
  • Information Security vulnerability assessment and remediation.
  • HA/DR and backup evaluation and improvements.
  • Working off hours as needed to resolve issues or meet deliverable dates.
