Assistant Buyer

Long term contract opportunity in Hampton, NH for an Assistant Buyer. Will assist the Senior Buyers in entering accurate information. Will take ownership over immediate, non-scheduled or stocked buying. Will involve direct/indirect purchasing and other production assignments
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Enter supplier acknowledge dates in an accurate manner.
  • Confirm factory Purchase Orders in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with sales on the factory ship dates.
  • Update the system with tracking information and ship dates.
  • Expedite factory purchase orders.
  • Maintain factory purchase orders as needed.
  • Run Open PO reports and work with factories before parts are late.
  • Pursue continued improvement through training and process improvement.
  • Process buys for immediate orders.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of administrative experience is ideal. No buying experience is required.

  • Must be able to clearly communicate; edit work for spelling and grammar, vary writing style to meet needs and present numerical data effectively.
  • Must be able to read and interpret written and oral information.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in a positive or negative situation, ability to listen, respond to questions must demonstrate group presentations skills and participate in meetings.
  • Must display willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and support and explain reasoning for decisions.
  • Includes necessary people in the decision-making process and makes timely decisions.
  • Ability to know when to elevate an issue to next level-Senior Buyers.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach others in a tactful manner.
  • React well under pressure and accept responsibility.
  • Expected to be at work on time, and ensure responsibilities are covered when absent, attends meetings and appointments on time.
  • Follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for own actions and keep commitments. Complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan.

  • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness, in addition to looking for ways to improve and promote quality. Applying feedback to improve performance and monitoring own work.
