Daily Responsibilities
- Maintain daily production sheets and other reporting
- Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits
- Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities
- Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary
- Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed
- Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements
- Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance
- Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities
- Perform all tasks associated with achieving production goals following customer contract, guidelines, and specifications and proper following of procedures of each process
- Perform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours
- Follow all safety rules at all times and not engage in unsafe acts
- Weekend work, night work and/or overnight travel as needed
- Encourage damage prevention to the excavating community
Required Qualifications
- 6 months locating Experience
- Demonstrated Proficiency in the use of hand tools and equipment. (shovels, screw drivers, wrenches, and ped keys etc.)
- Ability to perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices
- Ability to use lap top computer or other devices to receive and document excavation notices
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors in order to ensure projects are finished on time
- Valid Driver’s License & Acceptable MVR Record

- 18 months locating Experience
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional/intermittent walking up to several hours a day
- Occasional/intermittent standing up to several hours a day
- Reach, bend, and stoop while performing work
- Repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder
- Maintain visual and audible contact with other employees, customers, etc. to provide administrative support and customer service (i.e. answering phones, answering questions, provide information, etc.) while in office setting or Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement if out on jobsite
- Climb into and out of vehicles (trucks, cars, etc.)
- Work in extreme weather conditions depending on geographical location (below freezing to over 100 degrees and in very windy conditions) (while on job site)
- Must be able carry 3-5 lb. electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs. with tool aids
- Be able to perform the above for at least 8-10 hours per day for 4 or 5 days a week
