Title: Sr. Software Engineer
Term: 6 Months
Location: Remote

Long term contract opportunity for a Sr. Software Engineer. 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Use software development lifecycle best practices to design and develop Python based applications in an Agile environment.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to solidify requirements and discuss the best solutions.
  • Follow solid engineering practices including configuration management using CM tools, such as GitLab, and documentation according to ISO standards.
  • Work in Linux and AWS virtualized environments.
  • Collaborate with systems and software architects, software engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, and other roles across a globally distributed team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
    • Developing applications in Python.
    • Experience with enterprise application development.
    • Knowledge of Linux, Docker and AWS.
    • Deploying to Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
    • Agile software development practices.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working on an architecture deployed to a Kubernetes environment.
  • A solid understanding of microservices using Restful APIs, event driven architectures, and persistence with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Airline Operational Control or Aviation industry experience to include cockpit avionics, communication networks, and ground-based services.
  • Working knowledge with airline operational business processes and practices.
