MATRIX has partnered with a premier client in filling an urgent Direct-Hire role where you will work onsite 3 days a week in a beautiful office located in Downtown Chicago (2 days remote).

  • Managing projects -will be managing 1-5 projects simultaneously depending on size and scope
  • 0 direct reports
  • Types of projects:  Microsoft Stream project, MS Exchange, Moving from On Prem to Hybrid model, Peoplesoft System of Record upgrade, Refreshing Globalnet (intranet)
  • RFI / RFP Development experience - Required, at least 1-2 projects (some exposure)
  • PPM Pro for time tracking and resource utilization
  • Understand risk and compliance analysis for a project and how to mitigate project risk
  • Experience Agile or DevOps - some exposure is highly preferable
  • Pluses – PMP, Prince 2, Masters, CSM
  • Previous PMO environment experience - Preferred

Title:  Global IT Project Manager

The Global IT Project Manager's overall responsibility is to deliver projects that are on-time, on-budget, within scope, and fulfill the business requirements.  To do this, the Global IT Project Manager will need to work closely with the Business Sponsor, the project team members, and IT Management to ensure the timely completion of the agreed upon deliverables. The Global IT Project Manager will at times manage multi-year projects with budgets in excess of $1 million, and a resource effort in excess of 2,500 hours.



Essential Functions:

  • Accountable for the overall management of assigned projects through the Project Delivery Framework phases: initiate, plan, execute, and close
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including the project brief, project plans, communications plans, project team status, executive status reports, project roles & responsibilities, and maintain the document repositories
  • Participate in occasional calls and meetings outside of normal US business hours to accommodate international team member schedules when necessary
  • Accountable for coordinating project activities with domestic and international team members, including establishing schedules, assigning tasks, monitoring, and resolving conflicts
  • Accountable for the project Risk, Issue, and Change Management processes, analysis, reporting, and escalation
  • Facilitate executive status meetings with business sponsors and other firm leadership as necessary during which the project progress will be reviewed, issues discussed for resolution, and any material changes to scope, budget, or schedule should be raised
  • Provide regular status progress reports to the Project Management Office to assist with the overall tracking and management of the Project Portfolio
  • Program Management oversight including mentoring of staff in project management best practices
  • Responsible for managing multiple large and complex projects at one time
  • Responsible to work closely with the business functional areas, vendors, and other IT teams in defining project priorities, scope, approach, resource requirements, schedule, deliverables, and budgets; facilitate cross project coordination and communication
  • Obtain stakeholder buy-in and proactively manage expectations throughout the project
  • Responsible for vendor relationships throughout the project ensuring outsourced tasks meet contract expectations, firm standards, and are delivered on time
  • Assist with the development of RFIs and RFPs as required to enable third party solutions and IT services
  • Assist the Global Director of the Project Management Office with Portfolio planning and process improvements
  • Adhere to and promote PMO standard project management tools, procedures and best practices
  • Responsible for the definition of project business requirements, analysis, and design; facilitate decision making sessions for project specific architecture, business strategy, operational processes, business processes, and organizational requirements
  • Meet with project stakeholders to clearly capture business requirements, critical milestones, and dependencies – may require travel to other offices
  • Coordinate the creation and follow up of project related surveys and end-user communications that clearly explain technical concepts using non-technical language
  • Provide the initial risk and compliance analysis the project may pose to the firm
  • Act as a liaison between IT stakeholders to strengthen understanding of business-aligned goals
  • Challenge the status quo
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives




  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job


Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years successfully managing large and complex IT projects from inception to completion, overseeing direct / indirect reports and vendors. 12+ years of IT experience
  • Legal Industry experience preferred
  • Agile OR DevOps experience required (must have one or other)


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methods; preferred current Project Management certification such as PMP, Prince 2, Master’s Certificate, CSM or other certification / degree in project management
