Position: UX Researcher
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri, 63103
Term: Contract-to-hire

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for both planning and executing research programs for high profile projects. The individuals will collaborate with business, design and technology partners as they propose and carry out all aspects of UX research
  •  Create and maintain research plans/timelines
  • Coordinate and conduct all user recruiting for research activities
    • Identify target users and associated criteria needed for recruiting
    • Engage various partner teams on gathering and approval of user lists
    • Track and manage recruiting activities for each study and down to the participant level (i.e., tracking project, who was contacted, who participated, etc.)
  • Create discussions guides for research sessions
  • Facilitate/moderate user-centered design research activities such as: Interviews, Usability Testing, Focus Groups, Card Sorting, Contextual Inquiry, Ethnography, Discovery Sessions, Co-Design Sessions and/or Surveys
  • Analyze results from user research and present recommendations to various audiences
  • Produce a variety of deliverables such as: Research Reports, Experience Diagrams, Customer Journeys, Service Blueprints, Personas, Video Clip Reels, etc.
  • Communicate ideas via design (i.e., whiteboard drawings, paper sketches, etc.)
  • Contribute towards note-taking for user research activities where you are not the moderator
  • Interface with team members in the home office, back office, and the field
  • Comply with all mandated policies and procedures when conducting research in the regulated financial services sector
  • Responsible for developing and executing customer experience solutions for online applications and Web sites.
  • Accountable for creating the most complex industry-leading user interface design solutions.
  • Leading teams of customer experience professionals defines and deploys interaction design strategies.
  • Serves as design 'advocate' with the ability to forecast and assess industry trends and their impact on the company's product design alternatives.
  • Establishes and promotes design guidelines, best practices and standards.
  • Accountable for overseeing the execution of strategic design projects that influence design and strategic direction of the company.
  • Builds and enhances strong working relationships within the information / interface design function and community outside of the company.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively across relevant units and with company leaders.
  • Provides product usability, evaluation and support to product development teams.
  • May oversee work performed by others and serves as a mentor to the direction of the unit while not managing people.
  • Presents and defends designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders.
  • Leads customer experience strategy for platforms and products; influences roadmaps and business decisions by providing customer experience considerations; participates in roadmap planning and virtual teams; represents customer experience and ICS to our partners. Serves as SME for all aspects of customer experience.

  • Ability to lead a research program in a fast-paced and, at sometimes, ambiguous environment
  • Ability to perform light statistical analysis on research data
  • Ability to juggle multiple user research efforts at once and track and communicate them appropriately
  • Good project management skills; organized
  • Strong conceptual skills (i.e., deciphering whiteboard diagrams and pencil sketches)
  • Comfortable with frequent iteration to designs based on feedback from users and business partners
  • A continued curiosity in subjects related to design and technology
  • Ability to moderate and lead effectively with partners and users located remotely via email and phone
  • Experience moderating collaboration workshops
  • Agile experience is preferred
  • Must be able to work comfortably on a PC
  • Previous large company experience is a huge plus
  • Brokerage/banking experience is a plus, but not required

  • 8+ years of experience in the following: communications, human factors, information sciences, graphic, and visual arts demonstrated through work or military experience
