This nationwide mortgage industry leader has an immediate full-time opening for an Underwriter. Can work 100% remotely from anywhere in the United States. This position is straight salary and not tied to production. Key requirements include:
• 3-5 years of underwriting experience.
• Experience in residential mortgage.
• Active DE CHUMS or LAPP SAR designations/certifications.
• Strong understanding of credit and an ability to perform mathematical calculations and review complex financial documents.
• Advanced knowledge of loan origination investor guidelines and federal and state compliance regulations.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to analyze and interpret underwriting policies and guidelines.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with internal staff and external clients as needed
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Ability to maintain a customer focus and efficiently and consistently produce accurate work in both individual and team settings
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Solid knowledge of computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Responsibilities include:
• Managing the underwriting scenario email box by answering and tracking a wide range of questions from clients regarding scenarios and guidelines.
• Reviewing and analyzing situations and provide timely responses to clients.
• Conducting research and interpret policies and investor guidelines, ensuring that information provided is accurate and compliant.
• Reviewing loan file components during the scenario process to analyze and calculate information.
• Escalating complex scenarios and questions when appropriate.
• Understanding and maintaining a thorough knowledge of all policy updates and work with management to ensure Fstandards and processes are appropriate and compliant.
• Maintaining relationships by effectively communicating with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner.
• Assisting with special projects and other assignments.
• Maintaining knowledge of mortgage industry trends and best practices within assigned area(s) and work with management to ensure standards and processes are appropriate and aligned with the market.
