Position: SAP Test Manager

Location: Secaucus New Jersey 07094

Term: 5 Months

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Test Planning and Preparation

  • Plan and manage testing activities.
  • Coordinate with the various teams to ensure all testing tasks are identified and tracked appropriately.
  • Prepare the test approach / plan document for each formal test cycle.
  • Prepare the kick-off deck material and present it at the formal kick off session.

Requirements management

  • Help with maintaining and updating the business requirements in Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), our primary testing tool.
  • Identify appropriate technical requirements and maintain them in ALM.
  • Ensure appropriate and adequate coverage of all requirements.

Test Case Management

  • Liaise with all teams and identify appropriate test cases and required test data.
  • Assist in managing the test cases available in Global’s main repository within ALM.
  • Help in building greater awareness of the content of the main repository of test cases.
  • Encourage Area teams to leverage existing test cases and enhance them, where appropriate, to reflect conditions for LSTRs and local applications.
  • Coordinate the design of any additional test cases that are required.
  • Work with the teams to identify the test cases to requirements mapping and have it updated in ALM.

Test Data Management

  • Assess how best the data can be provisioned (e.g. leveraging converted data; creating data).
  • Coordinate the preparation of test data sheets that will be used during test execution.

Test Execution

  • Track and drive the readiness assessment process for upcoming testing activities.
  • Prepare and update the entrance criteria checklist to ascertain whether the formal testing can commence.
  • Assist in managing the execution of test cases.
  • Coordinate the creation of a test execution schedule for all test cases included in scope.
  • Identify and communicate any barriers to smooth test execution.

Defect Resolution

  • Assist in the defect triage process by working closely with the defect manager(s) to:
  • Actively participate in the defect calls and ensure that the relevant regional and country team members attend the call to provide necessary inputs.
  • Follow-up with team members and ensure that defects are retested.
  • Retest the fixes of defects logged.
  • Attend defect triage calls and representing those defects assigned to the team.
  • Prepare analysis and assisting with research.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of the daily test dashboards.
  • Ensure the real time dashboards are created and updated for the current testing activities.
  • Update the test estimation based on additional details received after preparing the initial estimates.
  • Track the progress in successfully validating the identified requirements.
  • Lead weekly checkpoint meetings to closely track the progress of test execution and defect resolution.
  • Determine appropriate corrective actions and follow up on them as needed

Test Closure

  • Maintain and update the exit criteria checklist and ensure the fulfillment as well as the formal exit.
  • Prepare and distribute the exit criteria report.
  • Prepare and distribute the final test completion report.
  • Drive the lessons learned session for the relevant test cycles.

Test Management and Support

  • Providing adequate supervision, leadership and guidance to junior team members.
  • Following up on assigned tasks to assess whether adequate progress has been made and or what corrective actions be needed.

Metrics Reporting

  • Contributing to the creation of reports, metrics and dashboards for the team.
  • Preparing ad hoc and standard reports.
  • Preparing regular status reports on offshore activities.


  • Taking handoff from onshore team and driving additional progress and or completion of tasks.
  • Passing handoff to the onshore team and providing comprehensive briefing on actions taken till date.
  • Performing necessary follow-ups and support with other teams (especially those in non-USA time zones).
  • Liaising with other offshore teams (IBM, GTT, Environments, Test Automation, etc) to ensure and or follow-up on various activities.

Is this a good fit? (Requirements):

  • At least five years’ experience in testing SAP and its components.
  • Experience working on a global SAP implementation project.
  • Solid knowledge of SAP modules and functionality.
  • At least three years’ experience in a Lead role and active participation in planning and managing formal testing phases (including functional, integration, end-to-end, user acceptance and regression).
  • Experience in test planning and prioritization processes.
  • Experience in collaborating with the development and functional teams to solidify the testing scope as well as providing comprehensive details to facilitate timely resolution of defects.
  • Automation Developers and Performance testers to facilitate robust automated scripts.
  • Experience in presenting testing results and demonstrating issues encountered.
  • Experience in identifying appropriate data requirements for smooth execution of test cases.


Even better if you have:

  • Good inquiry and investigative skills to ensure you question and validate conditions appropriately.
  • Good communication and coordination skills as you will be working very closely with multiple teams.
  • Solid knowledge of testing best practices.
  • Good knowledge to HP ALM and or comparable testing tools.
