This international industry leader has an 11+ month contract opportunity (with strong chance for extension in Plano, TX for a Technical Writer. Will be working 100% remote but must be able to work onsite in the future when the office reopens.  Will support the company's Internal Audit’s (IA) objective to develop a manual that will serve as the primary instructional guide for team members in completing products and services.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Research products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience.
  • Organize material and write assignments based on agreed to project plan.
  • Proactively coordinate and lead working sessions with subject matter experts to confirm understanding of current processes, tools, existing written materials, and department goals.
  • Analyze existing draft information to be incorporated into final products and edits, or re-writing material prepared by others.
  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for user comprehension.
  • Generate innovative ideas for design, structure, format, content, numbering, workflow, and presentation based on knowledge and experience.
  • Align methods and ideas with departmental, divisional, and/or company requirements and objectives to produce user-centric documents and make the documents available in the appropriate repositories.
  • Write manuals, operating procedures, process flows, references, attachments, and/or related job aides for IA team members to complete within the audit management software or other appropriate tools.
  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, terminology, correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Edit written material and assist in layout process by suggesting and incorporating the necessary screenshots, visuals, and diagrams that best illustrate the material.
  • Support the creation of training materials that will be used for departmental training over the processes written.
  • Ensure timely delivery of written products, successful coordination with team members to minimize interruption to operations.
  • Effectively communicate/escalate progress, impediments, challenges, and requirements for decision-makers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Business Administration or other related discipline such as Technical Writing.
  • 5+ years of experience creating, writing, editing, and proofreading technical materials such as manuals and/or operating procedures.
  • Excellent skills in Word, Power Point and Visio and creating PDF files.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing abilities, attention to detail, grammar, and proofing skills.
  • Experience assisting or developing training materials related to the written content developed.
  • Experience writing operating procedures that incorporate the use of technology to complete work products preferred.
  • Understanding of Internal Audit function, compliance, or other related business areas preferred.
  • Able to utilize collaboration tools effectively to work in a virtual environment.
  • Able to manage long-term writing project, set reasonable milestones, and track progress.
