Basics: Seeking a Solution Designer with API experience.

Location: Phoenix, AZ - 100% remote - Arizona time zone

Type: 4-month contract to hire

Rate: $80+/hourly, DOE

Role:

“API Services Architect” 
Cloud native application development is a MUST.

CICD experience/mindset is also a MUST.  API background – writing APIs for various client.  Well-rounded experience in Microsoft technologies – Azure, etc.  Manager feels this candidate must have a development background to be a good architect.  They don't want a "PowerPoint Architect" – someone at too high a level and not in the weeks on a daily basis.  They must ensure compliance and help delivery to implement.  Must be hands-on in helping. 
DevOps mindset is essential. 

•Understand the product and services domain in which our organization and team provides products and services, and develop a strategy and roadmap for the adoption of Azure service based architecture and solutions.
•Present & communicate on the cloud & API services point of view, the benefits to the organization, and a path to the target state architecture with different both Business & IT stakeholders.
•Design, code, deploy, and operate API Service based solutions.
•Develop reference architectures for development and implementation of API Services
•Communicate implications and tradeoffs of design decisions, issues and plans to business, product and IT leadership.
•Engage with product development teams, understand their needs, develop and implement platform capabilities and services that improve developer experience, accelerate time to market, and ensure compliance to a reference architecture for cloud based services.
•Coach and mentor development teams on cloud design patterns, cloud operations and cloud cost models with hands-on ability to implement best practices or suggest improvements.
•Assist with instrumentation and business dashboards using New Relic platform to support end to end consumer experience monitoring.
•Lead and guide software product teams in developing solutions that fully integrate and collaborate with existing IT systems to solve complex business solutions.
•Provide a holistic view of enterprise solutions, taking into consideration operational costs, security, performance engineering, application development, and systems management.
•Insure competitive and innovative technical solutions, make decisions, get stakeholders buy-in and deliver on commitments.
•Consulting and support of our customers, partners and product managers in defining technical requirements in support of their business requirements, and delivering an architecture runway to build scalable, secure, and maintainable products.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in technology, computer science or related field
•10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, design, and architecture with a minimum of 5 years of significant leadership experience in architecture and design
•3+ years of deep, demonstrated experience in designing, coding, and implementing API Service based architectures and solutions in support of cloud-native applications
•2+ years of previous experience working with global offshore teams
•Expertise and working experience developing, implementing, and operating applications and services using the Microsoft Azure technology stack and resources.
•Maturity and confidence in mentoring and leading software engineering teams in the design, coding, and implementation of software solutions using Service based architectures
•Strong, demonstrated proficiency in the design, development and operations of REST and Graph-based APIs using API gateways, API management
•Experience and expertise in design/build of cloud-native applications using APIs, containerized services, and API management
•Prior experience with New Relic is highly desirable
•Very good technical, written, and spoken communication skills.
