MATRIX is seeking a Solution Architect for our client headquartered in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Our client is a national provider of student financial aid services, serving millions of students and thousands of schools through its loan guaranty, loan servicing, financial aid processing, outreach and other student aid programs. You will be responsible for supporting and leading the development of application solutions. You will provide expertise in solution delivery and work on project teams to define architectural implementations and ensure adherence to architecture standards. You will aid in driving, defining, and communicating application architectural design for multiple applications and deliver a complete and accurate design for the delivery teams.

  • Develop and own solutions, ensuring the viability of proposed solutions and provide support on the appropriate approach to the solution throughout the project.
  • Drive end-to-end solution development.
  • Conduct scoping sessions to determine project scope, price and phasing, and deployment plan.
  • Work within financial guardrails as provided by office of Enterprise Architecture
  • Support the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of solutions across the Agency.
  • Collaborate with Business Solutions team and Enterprise Architects to understand the future vision and support the strategy of the business.
  • Collaborate with other architects to ensure the overall enterprise roadmaps remains actively supported so that it evolves as the business changes
  • Ensure project team is following architecture roadmaps, blueprints, and standards.
  • Regularly assesses satisfaction and identifies follow-up education opportunities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the underlying applications for their designated area and a general understanding of the supporting technology bases.
  • Subject matter expert in assigned technology domain (i.e. infrastructure, data, application, etc.).
Required Skills:
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology/Management Information Systems (MIS), Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of IT-related experience or the equivalent combination of knowledge, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Federal Enterprise Architecture, Zachman, Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP), Control Objectives Information and Related Technology (COBIT), and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Experience in creating and defining new architectural models and explaining complex problems and situations.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Experiencing in assessing a broad range of solutions and platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to senior-level stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to appropriately prioritize and plan complex work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading and collaborating across teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions.
  • Ability to develop solution architecture designs across varied business and technology domains.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balancers, and routers.
  • Solid understanding of distributed computing and development experience such as Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Representational State Transfer (REST), Application Programming Interfaces (API) Management, and Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE).
  • Knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Avoid the silo effect where a lack of communication can cause a change in one area of a system to adversely affect another area of the system.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments, and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to develop and promote effective working relationships within all levels of the Agency.
  • Ability to assess and identify dependencies and actions needed to successfully perform work as assigned.
