Position: Software Engineer-Senior
Location: Des Moines, IA 50392
Term: 12 months
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Pair/mob: Understand and execute cloud based software development practices and principles.
  • Be able to always apply unit testing principles and practices.
  • Apply deep knowledge of proven design patterns to create cloud based solutions.
  • Demonstrate the behaviors and mindset of high performing engineering.
  • Experience working with various tech stacks: - Languages: Java, Typescript - Frameworks: Spring, Server less - Testing: Cucumber, JUnit, Jest - Cloud Platforms: AWS - Pragmatic approach to engineering, methodologies, and practices. (e.g. not prescriptive)
  • Deep understanding in Extreme Programming. (XP practices, CI, CD, TDD)
  • Adept in systems architecture, design, development, and engineering.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and communication, both written and spoken.
  • Work in a variety of engagement types. (Pairing/mobbing sessions, story planning, grooming meetings, etc.)
  • May be required to provide on-call support.
Is this a good fit? (Requirements):
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience) and 6+ years’ work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as an IT professional.
  • Ability to obtain certification(s) in an IT related field.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language.
  • Basic leadership and presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both It and non-IT partners.
  • Some travel may be required, including overnight stays.
