Large Oil and Gas company in Houston is seeking a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) Engineer who is an ambitious self-starter to support Hyper Converged platform in a large 24x7 enterprise environment. This position will be responsible for supporting VxRack, VxRail based ESXi environments.  Ideal candidates for this role must have an excellent understanding of VMWare Cloud Foundation, Horizon View, and vSAN storage.  Must be local to Houston, TX.  Due to Covid, the role is temporarily remote, but a phased plan to return to the office is underway, so within the next 1-2 months, this role may return to working onsite 100%.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

The team is responsible for the day to day management of all SDDC functions, including daily capacity reports, systems health, updates/patches, performance tuning/monitoring, and project work.  In this role as a SDDC Engineer, you will have the following duties:
  • Lead and assist in design and support of various virtualized environments with a strong focus in ESXI and vSAN storage
  • Demonstrated excellent knowledge in vSphere replication, vRealize Automation (VRA), vRealize Log Insight (VRLI), and vRealize Operations (VROPS)
  • Provide configuration and tuning expertise in Horizon View including published apps, virtual desktop (VDI), App Volume, User Environment Manager (UEM), and WorkSpace One
  • Proficiency on virtual server/machine build through templates/clone/snapshot, data store allocation, create, manage and maintain desktop/application pools
  • Excessive focus on operational excellence, demonstrate ownership on day to day operational issues while participating in project work
  • Understanding in ticketing processes; incidents, tasks, change management and SLA management
  • Ownership of the creation and maintenance of architectural and operational procedural documentation
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting is a plus
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Virtualization/SDDC
  • Effectively work in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide 24x7 support including on-call rotation
  • AWS Solution or VMWare cloud knowledge concentration in multi OS server infrastructure is a plus
  • MWare Certification would be a plus
