Job Summary:

Our client, a global wireless telecommunications provider is seeking a SIGTRAN Engineer with router configuration, troubleshooting, capacity management and Granite design experience to join a team of engineers working side by side with teammates & other contractors within the Signaling Hardware, Capacity, & Design Engineering team, with their primary focus in the area of IP engineering and facilities transport. Resources will be responsible for assisting in the deployment of SIGTRAN (SS7/IP) signaling links into the client’s mobile network.  As a SIGTAN engineer your responsibilities will include router configuration, troubleshooting, capacity management and updating Granite/Xng paths.  The ideal candidate will live in Seattle, Dallas or Atlanta and will be working from home for the first 4-5 months.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receiving, creating, & completing internal work orders for multiple D2 & D1.5 signaling node turn-ups requiring SIGTRAN connectivity to the Client’s mobility STP’s, which may expand to include supporting SIGTRAN related projects on the wireline network as well.
  • Creating transport work orders across teams to turn up or test new circuits
  • Will be responsible for assigning IP addresses, router ports, as well as developing EDP’s (Engineering Design Package) that contains the router configurations that will be handed off to Operations to execute
  • Will be responsible for assisting in the troubleshooting of SIGTRAN connectivity issues that may arise during the signaling link turn-up process
  • Updating Granite paths & maintaining updated EDP’s
  • Collaborating with Network Design & STP engineers

Required/Desired Skills

  • 5 plus years of hands on experience in the development of IP router configurations & transport paths in a production network
  • 3 plus years of SIGTRAN transport and facilities router configuration, capacity management, troubleshooting and design experience
  • Must be familiar with router protocols (SCTP, OSPF, BGP, Etc) & interfaces (Ethernet, Gigabit, Etc)
  • 2-3 years of previous experience with Cisco router hardware
  • 5 plus years of telecom experience
  • 3 plus years of previous experience update Granite/Xng paths with IP transport
  • 2 plus years of experience configuring Cisco 7609 and ASR platforms desired
  • Previous experience with updating TIRKS records is a plus
  • CCNA certification preferred
  • Must be able to work across multiple departments & multi-task
