  • Solves least complex problems through evaluation of business processes and industry standards; uses evaluative judgment to make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Data Modelling knowledge and ability to build data models.
  • Identify and proactively resolve issues that could impact system performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Explore existing application systems, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation.
  • Communicates ideas and information in a concise and logical manner.
  • Create/implement database architecture for new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Create/implement strategies for partitioning, archiving, compression and maturity models for applications.
  • Review queries created by other developers for adherence to standards and performance issues.
  • Interact with Database, Applications Analysts and Business Users for requirements gathering.
  • Do impact analysis of existing applications and suggest best ways of incorporating new requirements.
  • Lead migration efforts on the database side, this would be migrating to Oracle and upgrading to different versions of Oracle.
  • Maintain standards compliance. Implement localization or globalization of software.
  • Proactively engage in the remediation of software issues related to code quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks. Provides guidance and coaching to associate software developers.
  • Provide guidance on all aspects of software development including compliance with design frameworks, coding standards, optimization of development efforts.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders including architects, software engineering, and project managers to report out development progress and escalates issues requiring attention.
  • 8-12 years hands on experience in supporting multi-tier applications.
  • Experience in different Oracle-RDBMS with focus on design, maintenance and support of medium to large enterprise/distributed databases.
  • Good Unix shell scripting knowledge.
  • Familiar with all phases of the systems lifecycle, from analysis, design and development and deployment.
  • Experience in end-to-end set up of mission critical applications.
  • DBA Skills will be required, includes partitioning, instance parameter tuning, backup and recovery.
  • Comfortable with multiple database concepts, i.e., RDBMS, OODB, ODS, Warehouse.
  • Expert in logical data modelling and relational database design.
  • Experience in working with source control systems (preferably Subversion).
  • Experience in production support and troubleshooting issues.
  • Performance monitoring and tuning efforts, suggest changes to improve performance. Familiar with NOSQL databases, BIGDATA and Hadoop ecosystem is an added advantage.
  • Experience in performance tuning using different Oracle tools, like OEM, TKPROF, Explain Plan.
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred. Graduation/Post Graduation qualifications in Computer Engineering (preferable) or any Engineering stream with a very good academic record throughout.
  • Strong SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL programming skills.
  • Good knowledge of RDBMS Oracle (12c and higher).
  • Good understanding of platform support procedures and concepts.
  • Sound knowledge and hands-on experience of performance tuning and troubleshooting of production database systems.
  • Experience in analyzing production issues from technical (database) and functional (application process) point of view and fixing them within defined SLAs.
  • Experience in application DB migration, porting and version upgrades across different RDBMS using tools such as BCP, SQL *Loader, etc.
  • Experience in understanding and implementing policies and defined data security standards both from technical (RDBMS – database) and organizational point of view.
  • Working experience on high availability systems that utilizes replication/mirroring standards/approach in Oracle database.
  • Knowledge on Linux, AIX operating systems.
  • Experience in infrastructure design will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with BIGDATA & ETL tools.
  • A high degree of analytical ability and quantitative skills is desirable.
