Essential Duties:

We are looking for talented networking professionals to design, develop, deploy, support and monitor state-of-the-art network solutions (WAN, CAN, LAN, DCN, and wireless communications solutions) that are currently and will soon be deployed across out campus. The SDN Network Engineer will design and implement the enhancements and future capabilities for the future network. In this role you will apply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support network infrastructure-as-code in an enterprise environment. You will serve operational needs within the enterprise and may occasionally be required to serve in an on-call capacity. You will provide subject matter expertise in the following areas of network technology, including SDN, Spine-Leaf architecture, Routing/Switching, MPLS, BGP, VXLAN, EVPN and data center architecture. Additionally, you will lead projects to define and implement network infrastructure in support of enterprise needs. This position will report into the Engineering team and is not a supervisory role. The following experiences and knowledge areas will be necessary in the candidate’s daily activities.

  • 1 - 2+ years experience designing, implementing, deploying and supporting an SDN network
  • 5 - 6+ years experience designing, implementing, deploying and supporting a production network at an enterprise scale
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience combined
  • Knowledge and deep understanding of configuring and deploying network switches and routers
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting network infrastructure utilizing L1, L2, and L3 protocols (i.e., fiber-optic media, vlan extension, loop prevention, dynamic routing, network segmentation)
  • Experience utilizing underlay/overlay technologies in Spine-Leaf architecture
  •  technologies (i.e., Wi-Fi, PoE, NAC/802.1x, QoS) 
  • Knowledge and deep familiarity with SDN/Network automation
  • Knowledge and deep familiarity with DNS/DHCP/IPAM
  • Knowledge and deep familiarity with network monitoring solutions
  • Experience with coding/scripting/automation/orchestration platforms (i.e., Bash, Python, Ansible, Git), including interfacing with APIs
  • Development experience with cloud platforms a plus
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff
  • Experience with multi-vendor infrastructure platforms (i.e., Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
  • Strong presentation skills

Desired Qualifications

Experience utilizing network engineering best practices to analyze, design, deploy, and support network solutions
Experience designing and implementing large scale network infrastructure migrations/upgrades
Deep understanding of Spine-Leaf designs utilizing underlay/overlay techniques
Must apply out of the box, creative thinking to provide orchestration capabilities and solutions to SDN environments
Extensive working knowledge and experience with the following:
  • Open Standard routing and switching protocols (i.e., BGP, MP-BGP, OSFP, VRRP, MLAG, STP)
  • Network segmentation, encapsulation/encryption technologies (i.e., VRF, MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, Pseudowire, GRE, IPsec, MACSEC)
  • High Availability (HA), Active-Active resilient architectures
  • Campus Area Network technologies (Wi-Fi, PoE, NAC/802.1x, QoS, A/V)
  • Current networking trends, including commercial implementations of Software Defined Networks (SDN) for Campus, Data Center, and/or WAN environments
  • WAN architectures (i.e., Carrier Ethernet, Optical Fabrics (OTN), SONET, DWDM)
  • ZTP
  • IPv6 solutions
Familiarity with the following:
  • Load balancing and Application Delivery Controller technologies and implementations
  • Network Boundary (Next Generation Firewalls, IPSEC/SSL VPN Concentrators)
  • Network Management/Troubleshooting tools (i.e., NetFlow Tracker, Cisco LMS, Cisco Call Manager, Arista CloudVision Portal, SolarWinds, tcpdump, Wireshark, Elastic, and Splunk)
Dev/Ops Knowledge: can demonstrate knowledge and varying levels of experiences with one or more of the following: Ansible, JSON and Rest API, Infrastructure as Code, Linux shell, Python, TCL, Go Language, Kafka, Grafana, Jenkins / Git, Machine Learning (e.g. TensorFlow), Hadoop and clustered big data, Kubernetes, VMware, Docker, Virtual Box, Data Visualization
Technical certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, ACE-A, ACE-P)
