Large Houston-based Oil and Gas company is hiring an SCCM consultant for a long-term contract assignment (1 year+).  Will work onsite at the large headquarters facility in Houston.  Candidates must be local to Houston and it's highly preferred that candidates have previously worked in the Oil and Gas industry.  This is an immediate need, with interviews taking place the first 2 weeks of Jan. 2021 and the selected candidate will start ASAP.


As the SCCM Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include hand-on development, standardization, and management for the upcoming project: new implementation of desktop infrastructure including hardware, software, images, updates and drivers. The SCCM Engineer must have a highly proactive approach and will be expected to drive improvements to overall desktop infrastructure.  Will also cleanup the existing Workstation infrastructure to improve overall delivery and performance of the standard workstation.  This SCCM Engineer will take responsibility and ownership of the Windows Workstation environment during the Project.

  • Develop and execute on plan for increasing overall desktop platform optimization and standardization.
  • Ensure operational excellence by managing the MECM (SCCM) infrastructure.
  • Ensure correct installation, configuration, use and maintenance of the Microsoft MECM (SCCM) Platform.
  • Oversee group policy including review of existing policies and proposed changes.
  • Create and manage application deployment objects for new and existing software.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with support teams regarding application issue resolution and general workstation management support.
  • Provide 3rd level support for the desktop platform.
  • Work with key platform vendors for support to resolve issues as well as platform strategy development.
  • Coordinate release of critical updates and support Windows Servicing Model.
  • Provide technical assistance to support groups as needed.
  • Monitor Microsoft MECM (SCCM) Platform health and mitigate identified problems.
  • MECM (SCCM) Client remediation/support, resolving and maintain MECM (SCCM) client health on Workstations.
  • Package/Troubleshooting/Support Applications Installation.
  • Operating system deployment, creation, update, and maintenance.
  • Monitor Incident and Service requests, to resolve or reassign to the appropriate resources to address.
  • Work with different support teams to determine root cause of issue an escalate as needed.
  •  Interacting with clients as needed.
  • ITIL Experience, understanding of change management processes.
  • Some networking experience for troubleshooting SCCM distribution issues.
  • Some experience with Elevated Privileged Management system (Similar to CyberArk EPM).
  • Some experience with Flexera Application Portal
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s preferred
  • At least five (5) years’ experience performing duties similar to those listed in the job description and responsibilities sections above
  • Experience with application imaging preferred
  • Experience working in an oil and gas setting preferred
  • VMWare Horizon experience preferred
  • Motivated and lead a team to work in stressful situations occasionally requiring after hours emergency response
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem analysis and resolution
