Position: Safety Coordinator
Location: Northampton, Massachusetts 01060
Term: 6 Months Contract
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities.

Develop policies to promote occupational health and safety (OSH) awareness.

Focus on prevention and need to be diligent and analytical.
-
Support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.
-
Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily
-
Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis
-
Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
-
Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
-
Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
-
Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
-
Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
-
Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
-
Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
-
Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
Is this a good fit? (Requirements):

Proven experience as safety coordinator or similar.
-
Bachelor's degree in health and safety or a related field may be preferred.

Registration as a Certified Safety Professional, similar form of licensure as a safety officer or IH certified.

Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Good written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.

In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practice.

Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.

Experience in reporting and developing policies.
-
Experience in implementing OSH training programs.

Proficient in MS Office.

Diligent with an analytical mind.
-
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and areas managers.
