Position: Research and Development Technician
Location: Barrington, Illinois 60010
Term: 12 Months Contract
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Follow all mandated safety and GLP procedures.
  • Perform chemical, physical and instrumental analyses by following standard core methods or research methods, process experimental data, and report the assay results. Test methodologies include: HPLC, GC, Titration, etc.
  • Process samples into forms ready for analysis, such as compositing and/or grinding to homogeneity.
  • Prepare and maintain chemicals, chemical solutions, sample dilutions, and equipment as needed for accurate and reliable analyses.
  • Organize and purge samples on a routine basis.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to assure the reliability of measurement systems.
  • Appropriately document all data in WinLIMS, and accurately communicate results in an appropriate format and in a timely manner.
Is this a good fit? (Requirements):
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in a scientific field such as chemistry, food science, biology, etc.
  • Capable of learning and applying various analytical techniques.
  • Experience in and working knowledge of common software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail in the execution of methods and techniques to deliver accurate and timely analytical results.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry methods.
  • Capable of and willing to learn a wide range of lab techniques.
  • A quick learner that is flexible, and be able to multi-task in supporting team’s priority projects.
  • Able to work in a team and work closely with the chemist who is responsible for the assigned analytical techniques.
  • Must be very familiar with, understand, follow, and execute all GLP.
  • Must understand the normal hazards associated with laboratory work and follow safety procedures in handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Must keep neat, orderly, and complete records.
  • Be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and to prepare graphs and tables, using appropriate computer software.
