Long Term Contract Opportunity!
Position: Product Development Scientist
Location: Barrington, IL 60010
Term: 11 Months (08/09/2021 to 07/23/2022)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Conduct bench-top and pilot plant product development of new product of a specifically assigned project.
  • Work on specifically assigned R&D project either independently or alongside a Product Developer.
  • Develop work plan, timeline and deliver on key project milestones. Represent R&D at cross-functional team meetings.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute product development via bench top and pilot plant work. This includes preparing and processing beverage samples, overseeing shelf-life testing, conducting bench top tastings, scheduling and producing products for sensory panels and consumer tests, interpreting data and making recommendations, as well as maintaining detailed records in laboratory notebook.
  • Enter ingredient specifications and formulas into corporate documentation software.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges. Proactively troubleshoot.
Is this a good fit? (Requirements):
  • Minimum of B.S. in Food Science or other related sciences.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated Product Development experience with food product formulation such as granola bars, rice cakes, cookies and crackers, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in product formulation and formulation chemistry, product development protocols, including formulation, stability testing, sensory and consumer testing methodology.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and to lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work alone or in groups.
  • Self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to handle multiple project assignments in a fast-paced environment is required.
