This international software industry leader has an immediate full-time opening in San Diego, CA for a Principal Product Manager.  Looking for a passionate, creative, and motivated individual to join the Product Management team in delivering products that continue corporate growth and make a meaningful difference in customers’ businesses and the lives of others. Will be responsible for defining and developing innovative, differentiated, best-in-class devices, leveraging deep customer insights and knowledge of the competitive landscape. You will own product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle. This includes developing business cases based on solid technical and analytical justifications, preparing roadmaps, and interfacing with business stakeholders and engineering to define and drive feature requirements from conception to completion among other tasks. 
This is a critical individual contributor role. You will work with many of the 2000 people worldwide who are employed at offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia and lead the organization to realize business goals. Responsibilities include:


  • Developing and managing the product strategy and roadmap for telematics platforms, working with stakeholders and senior management to plan and prioritize product deliverables and schedules.
  • Preparing product requirements that address the objectives of the company, competitive outlook, industry direction, resource constraints, timeline, etc. 
  • Leading cross-functional teams with respect to requirements interpretation, product decisions, specification reviews, customer satisfaction issues, and scheduling.
  • Guiding hardware and firmware engineering teams as the product owner during development.
  • Managing the product backlog.
  • Evaluating the impact of trade-off decisions between programs and capabilities.
  • Clearly communicating product development updates, risks, and issues to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Maintaining a high attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving issues that may impair the products ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical objectives.
  • Developing and delivering technical and business presentations and training.


  • Experience managing products through their entire lifecycle with a track record of successful delivery of multiple hardware products that are integrated with SaaS offerings.
  • 7+ years of product management experience.
  • 2+ years experience building hardware platforms, bringing them to market, and sustaining them.
  • Experience with computer vision, deep learning, and artificial intelligence preferred.
  • Experience with transportation and advanced analytics solutions preferred.
  • BA/BS in Business or Electrical Engineering, ideally with an MBA. 
  • Able to design innovative features and cohesive products from analytics, have an eye for details, and focus on users, results, and business goals.
  • Passionate about beautifully designed and highly functional products that deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying customer and business problems, crafting the product vision, and writing clear/concise requirements with consideration for the end-to-end experience.
  • Experienced in agile development processes and acting as the Product Owner for Sprint teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize the work effort and ensure that tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts and manage trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication skills, which include active listening and the ability to present complex ideas in concise written and verbal descriptions which are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-confident, experienced, and a proactive with a proven ability to produce outstanding results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand, track, drill-down, and question activities and issues in all functional areas and make sound business decisions based upon that data.
  • Superior documentation and communication skills with an eye towards total quality management and continuous process improvement Strong influence management, negotiation, leadership and assertiveness skills
  • Must be a person of the highest integrity who approaches business, decision-making, and responsibilities honestly and openly.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the Americas, Europe, India, and China.
