Senior Desktop and Network Support Specialist

This DFW-based healthcare industry company has an immediate 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity in Farmers Branch for a Network Support Specialist. This position requires working in the office Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and sharing On Call coverage. This role will be approximately 80% desktop/help desk support and 20% network support.  Will be responsible for analyzing, testing, troubleshooting and evaluating existing network systems such as local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and internet systems or other segments of the network system. Will also perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.

This position is approximately 80% customer interaction, either face-to-face or through phone/MS Teams to help resolve technical issues.  Therefore, this requires someone with strong technical skills, recent help desk and desktop support experience and the ability to resolve printer and PC issues quickly.  Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.


•    Analyzing network data to determine network usage, disk space availability or server functionality.
•    Configuring security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
•    Configuring wide area network (WAN) or local area network (LAN) routers and / or related equipment.
•    Documenting network support activities.
•    Configuring and defining parameters for installation or testing of LAN, WAN, hubs, routers, switches, printers, PCs, laptops.
•    Evaluating LAN or WAN performance data to ensure sufficient speed, identify network problems or perform disaster recovery activities.
•    Identifying causes of networking problems using diagnostic testing software or equipment.
•    Installing and configuring wireless networking equipment.
•    Installing network software, including security or firewall software.
•    Installing new hardware or software systems or components, ensuring integrations with existing network systems.
•    Performing routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking components or equipment.
•    Testing computer software or hardware, using diagnostic testing equipment and procedures.
•    Troubleshooting network or connectivity problems for users or user groups.
•    Analyzing and reporting computer network security breaches or attempted breaches.
•    Backing up network data.
•    Creating or revising user instructions, procedures or manuals.
•    Providing general support to networking or connectivity issues.
•    Serving as back up to peers when needed.
•    Processing support tickets appropriately and efficiently.


•    3-5 years Network/Desktop Support experience in a MS Office 365 environment.
•    Healthcare industry experience (ie. Laboratory Information Systems, Electronic Medical/Health Records, HL7, etc.)
•    Dedication to strong customer service and quality control.
•    Ability to work independently to resolve help desk tickets.
•    Experience with instrument management middleware administration is preferred.
•    Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
•    Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and the ability to follow problems and issues through completion.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, peers, and management.
•    Must be adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.
•    Must be able to multi-task effectively.
•    Strong Documentation and Organizational skills.
