This nationwide industry leader has an immediate 9-12+ month contract opportunity for a Network Field Engineer.  Can work 100% remotely from anywhere in the Midwest or East Coast, as long as you have close access to an airport.  This position requires approximately 50% travel (@ 2 weeks per month, never back-to-back) throughout the Midwest and East Coast to manufacturing plants in TX, AL, KS, MO, TN, MD, and FL. The primary purpose of the travel will be to help replace Cisco Switches in the plants with a PROFINET industrial communication network.

  • Working with Engineering Leadership, Project Managers, and directly with clients.
  • Responsible for system design, installation and complex problem solving of a diverse collection of client hardware and software solutions.
  • Supporting the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of WAN/LAN network deployments including switches, routers, firewalls, and security.
  • Implementing various Microsoft technologies as needed, such as Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, and any other Microsoft core business applications.
  • Producing and updating technical documentation and diagrams supporting Engineering and Operations teams as part of project deliverables.
  • Communicating accurate and timely project status updates to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrating technical expertise to the client and providing cross-training to internal resources.
  • Providing timely communication to clients during high-stress incidents, notifying them of impending changes or agreed-upon service impacts.
  • Participating in the change management process.
  • Planning / design, for optimization, upgrading, congestion management of existing network.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and resolve local network related issues; identify problem areas including hardware problems and bottlenecks along with network path; use various network tools to provide resolution for wireless interference.
  • Assist in the administration of the Local Area Network (LAN), hardware and software upgrades testing and turn up of new hardware.
  • 3-5 years of networking experience (LAN/WAN technologies)
  • 3+ years experience with Cisco Switches. PROFINET experience is a plus.
  • Windows or Linux Server experience
  • Understanding of Firewall technologies (Fortinet, ASA, or Palo Alto)
  • CCNA certification is strongly preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience implementing networking, server, and Business Application solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills regarding systems, network, and storage-based concepts.
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with network switches, routers, firewalls, and security.
  • LAN troubleshooting and configuration experience (Layer 2, Layer 3).
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and components including TCPIP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with Office 365 platforms
  • Proven ability to successfully analyze and perform problem resolution with an emphasis on client satisfaction.
  • Basic understanding of building network documentation using Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience with implementation and troubleshooting of Internet Protocol (IP) routers.  
  • Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches and wireless technologies.
  • Basic experience with design, implementation, and troubleshooting of IP networks. 
  • Basic understanding of configuration and installation of wireless PtP, PmP, routers, and switches.
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS).
