Our client is a multibillion-dollar company that provides end-to-end managed services, technology and consulting to enable the digital workplace for small to enterprise businesses. Position: Network Control Change Analyst
Location: Florida (Remote)
Hourly Rate: $ 28 /hr.
Term: 11 Months Contract 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Cisco Routers
  • Verify connectivity from the Jump server and check if SSH is allowed
  • Verify all interfaces IP addresses (physical, loopback, multilink)
  • Verify WAN circuit health, check interface for errors
  • Make sure the WAN interfaces have the Circuit ID when you issue show int description
  • Verify BGP summary, ASN, neighbor adjacency, uptime, and prefixes
  • Verify overall configuration:
    • SNMP groups and users
    • ACLs (105 for FPLU and 106 for NEER)
    • Clock setting (Eastern Time)
    • NTP association
    • Environmental (temperature, Power supply, FAN speed)
  • Check CDP neighbors and make sure all interfaces have description
  • Check the logs and look for any unusual behavior
  • Clear the buffer and the counters
  • Save the configuration

Access Switches
  • Verify connectivity from the Jump server and check if SSH is allowed
  • Verify license on C9300
  • Verify all interfaces IP addresses (physical, loopback, port-channels, and VLANs)
  • Verify interfaces port-channels and its members
  • Check OSPF Protocol between CR and firewall Cluster, ARs, etc.
  • Verify overall configuration:
    • SNMP groups and Users
    • ACL
    • Clock setting (Eastern Time)
    • NTP association
    • Environmental (temperature, Power supply, FAN speed)
    • Interfaces mode trunk
    • Interfaces mode access
  • Check CDP neighbors and make sure all interfaces have description
  • Check the stack members (Active, Standby, members, and hardware version)
  • Check the logs and look for an unusual behavior
  • Clear the buffer and the counters

Drawings
  • All information regarding Hostname, IP addresses, interfaces, VLANs, Locations, and Device Type should be accurate
  • Site Physical Address Information
  • Local contact information
  • All disconnected devices should be removed
  • Carrier and Circuit ID information including TSP for Telecommunication circuits
  • OOB pots line number and port description
  • Ensure that the person who updated the drawing has posted their name and date in the footer section
  • Make sure there is only one drawing per facility, the old network should be added as a separate Tab

Out of Band
  • Import the Avocent into DS View and apply the configuration template according to the firmware Version
  • Configure all ports with its corresponding port description
  • Verify connectivity through SSH and test Radius authentication
  • Verify connectivity through the MODEM and test local authentication
  • Assign port description on the Switch where the device is connected to
  • Login into all ports and make sure the console connection is working

UPS
  • Import the UPS into Structure Ware and apply the configuration template
  • Upgrade the firmware version if applicable
  • Verify connectivity via https and SSH
  • Create manager account and disable the default account (apc), add general setting like Location, Hostname, and Contact info.
  • Assign port description on the Switch where the device is connected to
  • Verify if there are major alarms like: battery faulty

Other Items
  • Create a Service request to update the monitoring system (Tivoli)
  • Create a Service request to update (Proviso and NetScout) to monitoring the WAN router
  • Make sure the new DNS entries were created and old ones were removed. Check forward and reverse lookup
  • Update Circuit list
  • Log into the ADCOM portal to update their monitoring system for the site
  • Fill out the Work tracking form on the IOC SharePoint
