This North Texas leading employer has an immediate 90 day contract-to-hire opportunity in Arlington, TX for a Systems Administrator.  This position requires working onsite Monday-Friday with flexible business hours (7am-4pm, 7:30am-4:30pm, 8am-5pm) and a business casual work environment.  After converting to permanent there is flexibility to work in the office 3 days/week and working remotely 2 days/week.  Strongly prefer industry certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, etc. and seeking an energetic, forward thinking candidate looking to grow with the organization. 

Will be responsible for managing the daily administration and user support of the computing system/network, including networking to remote offices. This is accomplished by maintaining network servers, routers, switches and other equipment, coordinating and overseeing installation of system and network-related hardware and software, providing system and network-related user support and monitoring network and system performance. Other duties include defining system and network-project goals and ensuring data integrity.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains network servers, routers, switches and other equipment by developing and implementing a program of regular, ongoing maintenance for network equipment; scheduling network downtime for intrusive maintenance; providing software updates, patches and service packs; providing hardware repair, replacement and upgrades and coordinating and scheduling regular maintenance with affected users on the network.

  • Coordinates and installs network-related hardware and software by scheduling installation of network hardware and software; communicating with appropriate staff, technical staff, contractors and vendors; implementing, testing and verifying solutions; studying and becoming proficient with new systems and recommending and specifying solutions as needed.

  • Provides system-related user support by troubleshooting network and system problems; identifying, interpreting and resolving network and system problems in a timely manner; contacting and coordinating with software or hardware manufacturers and maintenance representatives; implementing solutions to problems and taking preventative measures to reduce potential recurrence of problems.

  • Monitors network and system performance by adjusting systems to make improvements; monitoring the overall performance of the network and systems; monitoring client-side and server-side performance and efficiency; designing and implementing regular system performance reports and utilizing the reporting regime to adjust and improve performance of network systems.

  • Defines system and network-project goals by evaluating, testing and recommending hardware and software; assisting the Infrastructure Manager in defining and prioritizing network goals; coordinating project work and reviewing project progress and success and outlining advantages and disadvantages of products to the manager.

  • Ensures data integrity by scheduling, monitoring and managing data backup and recovery; resolving problems with back-up systems, cloud replication and backup software.

  • Installs configures, and administers agency servers, software, systems, and networking equipment.


  • Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience with PCs, Monitors, Network Servers, Server Racks, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with Office 365, VMware, Windows Administration, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Active Directory.

  • Valid state issued driver’s license; MCSE, CCNA, or other industry equivalent certification is desirable.

  • Technical Skills: Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes Agency-wide. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively. Affects accuracy of multiple projects.
