Title: IT Software Documentation Specialist
Location: Memphis, TN 38125
Term: 9 Months Contract


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
 
  • Essential functions and responsibilities may also include coordinating, writing, and editing responses to RFPs related to the organization’s infrastructure and technology as well as writing and editing internal communications about IT initiatives, system and application updates and outages
  • Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
  • Draft content for internal and external technology-related communications
  • Collaborate with Internal Communications and Marketing teams to draft content for technology-related award nominations, website content, and other collateral as needed
  • Create and maintain software, technical, online and help systems documentation, reference and maintenance guides, Web pages, articles, brochures, and other information using diverse communication and publication methods
  • Create documentation for software release enhancements; and to ensure internal and external communication of pertinent enhancements
  • Researches, writes, edits and maintains various forms of media regarding software enhancements, technical procedures, processes and other information; interprets highly-technical and intensive notes and transforms into user-friendly and easy-to-understand documentation
  • Writes technical communications and documentation involving discussions on subject matter with programmers and other experts to become more knowledgeable and familiar with company software and technology

Is this a good fit? (Requirements):
 
  • 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 2 years of technical writing experience
  • Good knowledge of technology verbiage for documentation of procedures and directions for usage
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience working with senior leadership and technology teams
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of how to locate and identify essential information Technical, analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills Creative, innovative and detail oriented
  • Ability to keep abreast of technical communications trends

Preferred Skills:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Technical and claims industry experience preferred particularly in RoboHelp, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe PageMaker, FrontPage, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with MadCap Flare a plus
