Position:  Information Security Engineer
Location: Des Moines, IA 50392
Term: 10 Months Contract

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Independently develop and implement software solutions
  • Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and trade-offs
  • Participate in technical design of features
  • Some travel may be required, including overnight stays
  • May be required to provide on-call support
  • Demonstrate knowledge of security requirements/guidance and effectively communicate to stakeholders and team members
  • Perform daily operational support of SIEM, IDS, EDR, and Network Security Monitoring infrastructure including tuning, rule recommendations, implementations and on call support
  • Assist with the development, testing and implementation of new cyber-security processes and procedures while ensure existing processes and procedures are kept accurate and up-to-date with rapidly changing methodologies and technologies
  • DevOps and Sysadmin support of Linux based OS’s including scripting, patching, and enhancements
  • Work with cyber defense investigators and other IT security functions to determine requirements and opportunities for threat detection and policy / prevention recommendations

Is this a good fit? (Requirements):

  • 4 to 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of IT related experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in a cyber defense, threat intelligence or similar role within information security
  • Experience working with SIEM’s, Intrusion Detection and Prevention systems, and other security monitoring tools
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, .NET, Bash, etc.)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting, analysis, and technical expertise to resolve incidents and service requests
  • Previous experience in troubleshooting day-to-day operational processes such as security monitoring, data correlation, security operations etc.
  • Proven experience performing analysis of security events and incidents, to determine root cause and provide resolution
  • Working experience against advanced persistent threats is well seen
  • Experience with Cloud technologies including security monitoring for IaaS/SaaS environments
  • Proven experience as an IT professional
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field)
  • Must have Technical aptitude
  • Must have previous work in Cyber Defense such as Blue Team
  • Must have willingness to work somewhat independently and without much direction, challenge team, think differently
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required
  • Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language
  • Basic leadership and presentation skills required
  • Must have the desire and ability to learn new technology and continuously grow
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners

Desired Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products preferred
  • Excellent time management skills preferred
