Engineering Technician - CADD
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Term: 6 months
Rate: $23/hourly

Description:

  • Prepare plan and profile design plan sets for floodway channels and drainage basins using Bentley MicroStation and InRoads software.
  • Quality Control photogrammetric mapping data to ensure proper specifications are used and data is ready for translation into the Company database.
  • Create impervious surface polygons using photogrammetrically compiled map data. These polygons are created using Bentley MAP and then imported into ArcMAP for feature classification. Impervious surface data is formatted according to the Feature Classification guidelines and made ready for the hydrologic modeling process.
  • Using Digital Terrain Models and field survey data, create volume calculations on construction projects, dirt auctions, and surfaces used for floodplain delineations.
  • Prepare exhibits, charts, maps, visual aids and posters. This includes FEMA workmaps, Corps of Engineer exhibits, and exhibits for levee certifications.
  • Use Bentley Descartes to import pointcloud data. Pointcloud data is used to extract breakline and planimetric features for use by District staff. This pointcloud data is also used to determine volume calculations using Bentley InRoads software. UAS/Drone Program – Branch staff has FAA Part 107 sUAS license or certificate. This enables staff to operate as a Remote Pilot in Charge and/or as a Visual Observer during District drone flights. Duties include flight planning, flight preparation, flight operation, and data processing of the drone imagery.


Skills Required:

  • Two (2) years of engineering drafting and/or CADD work experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain by within six (6) months of hire, a valid FAA Part 107 License Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Creates plan and profile sheets using design alignments.
  • Provides volume calculations and compile construction quantities.
  • Coordinates the work of other technical staff and reviews work quality; provides training and guidance in technical approaches to meet project goals.
  • Assists in the design, planning, coordination, and inspection of components of construction, flood control, and civil engineering projects.
  • Reviews photogrammetric mapping data to ensure the necessary mapping accuracies and specifications are maintained.
  • Prepares exhibits, charts, maps, visual aids, and presentation material.
  • Prepares maps and charts containing planimetric/contour data and orthophotography for use by FCD staff during public displays and project planning.


Experience Required:

  • Two (2) years of civil engineering drafting and/or CADD work experience. Bentley MicroStation experience and Civil Engineering drafting experience


Experience Preferred:

  • Four (4) years of civil engineering drafting and/or CADD work experience. Digital Surface Models.


Education Required:

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering, engineering technology or technical computer assisted drafting or a closely related field An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.
  • Must have the ability to obtain by within six (6) months of hire, a valid FAA Part 107 License Remote Pilot Certificate
