Title: Engineering Assistant
Term: 6 Months Contract
Location: Fairfield, CA
Long term contract opportunity in Fairfield, CA for an Engineering Assistant. Will be required to be onsite at least 2 days a week. Will assist the engineering build and material coordinator and will be responsible for assisting engineers with administrative, documentation, process and general engineering related support activities. Will be responsible for providing hardware development support and system/documentation support.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Primary support for the hardware team will include ordering and kitting of parts, processing material requests, creating and managing parts tracking spreadsheets, lab audit support, building/disassembly of parts, working with purchasing to expediate parts, and other general support as requested within the hardware engineering teams.

Assignments from the systems team will include MS Word assignments, preliminary document preparation, editing, formatting, and processing.

Act as primary engineering support focal point for inquiries and problem resolution during the pre-release, release, and revision phases of the engineering development cycle.

Assist with proposals and bid reviewing activities, peer reviews and metrics tracking/updates.

Submit MASTER and Ariba requests for ordering and tracking parts.

Track/manage material requests to procurement.

Edit formatting and content of required documentation.

Verify document change requests follow process (peer review, approval, submittal).

Release initial and revised documents to Data Management team.

Facilitate and drive peer reviews.

Provide tool expertise – MS Office Apps, requirements capture databases, change management tracking tools, peer review tool and others.

Conduct investigations to track, gather and organize data for Engineering.

Act as the team facilitator by interfacing with technicians, engineers, engineering leadership, etc.

Track bid proposals and assume the 3rd party bid reviewer role.

Assist in taking minutes, tracking action items, and executing timely follow-up.

Network with both internal and external personnel at multiple levels in own area of expertise.

Collect metrics and prepare presentation materials for analysis.

Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.

Represent organization as a prime contact on projects, often coordinating activities of support.

Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in several tools, including PREP, Bid Master Web, MASTER, Ariba, Jira/ALM and Enovia PDM.
Qualifications:

An AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with 6+ years of experience in project coordination.

In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience in project coordination required.

Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of project coordination experience.

Able to support several engineers, providing the wide variety of administrative and computer skills to assist engineering projects.

Able to become process and tool expert for engineering teams.

Strong communication and project coordination skills. Able to coordinate and lead activities as well as strong organization and analytical skills.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.

Experience with O365, SAP, SharePoint, DUO, and Citrix highly recommended.
