Long term contract in Plano, TX for a Data Engineer. Will be working on the existing profit model with which, will deduce the data of coming months using the given data of past months. Will be working as well as sharing the resulted data with the other departments for them to perform the forecasting. Will primarily be using Spark and Python or Scala for deducing the outcome from the given data.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform the data pipeline and data management layer development and implementation for warehouse and analytical models.
  • Understand the financial models built by the Finance team.
  • Implement the models in a high performant scalable method using Spark or an efficient programming language.
  • Develop re-usable financial math libraries/packages.
  • Practice DevOps standards for all the deliverables.
  • Perform root cause analysis on data and logic issues.
  • Analyze and propose solutions to help resolve model implementation and data issues.
  • Document requirements, solution/technical architecture and the SDLC process needs.
  • Perform impact analysis on the data environment based on changes made in upstream applications.
 
Qualifications:
  • Computer Science background (experience and/or education).
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Scala (or Java) and Spark.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • 3+ years of advanced programming experience.
  • Documentation skills.
 
Preferred/ Nice-to-Haves
  • Master’s degree is a huge plus.
  • Experience with a reporting tool.
  • Web development and JavaScript knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of Go or SAS.
  • Knowledge of streaming and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Cloud databases (Snowflake).
  • Foundation in using DevOps standards – Linux shell automation, JIRA, GIT, CI/CD.
