Long term contract opportunity in Cedar Rapids, IA for a Data Center Network Administrator. Will provide contract support for an in-progress data center refresh and additional day to day data center management duties as assigned. The existing data center currently runs traditional Cisco Nexus 7/5/2k infrastructure which is being replaced with Cisco Nexus 9k and ACI. Base implementation is complete. Will coordinate the migration of devices from the old infrastructure to new.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Research and document current cabling and server infrastructure (host to switch).
  • Identify, document, label and stage new cabling paths for end host migration to new data center network switches. Will include implementation of newer wire management as older fex are removed to free space.
  • Define device migration sequence, coordinate, schedule and lead activities and resources for connectivity migration.
  • Understand Cisco NX-OS / IOS / ACI network administration.
  • Verify and update elevational layout documentation.
  • Decommission of legacy hardware and cable infrastructure.
  • Storeroom management, organize and inventory in stock components and maintain supply of commodity items such as cables and SFPs.
  • Coordination of device shipments into and out of server rooms and data centers, including coordination of receiving at the destination.
  • Rack and install hardware. Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in data center network administration.
