Applications Support Specialist

Terrific long term contract opportunity in Irving, Texas for an Applications Support Specialist who will be a senior resource that will lead on supporting several application modules. Will provide L1/L2/L3 technical application support and monitoring the applications for franchise critical applications. Will help solve complex issues and work with large teams of professionals located globally, providing technical support to our clients to support critical business operations within Credit Risk/ACE and Regulatory Reporting. Will contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage, maintain and support applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability, quality and functionality against service level expectations.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance monitoring solutions, which will require scripting knowledge to create advanced monitoring solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain platform stability during all business hours.
  • Data analysis or data investigations.
  • User support.
  • Manage the relationship with development and infrastructure teams.
  • Create and maintain a knowledge base to ensure that knowledge transfer takes place within the team.
  • Develop and maintain technical support documentation.
  • Perform same day risk reconciliation.
  • Formulate and define scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution.
  • Review and develop application contingency planning to ensure availability to users.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the company, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Very good at debugging.
  • 8+ years of experience in Production Support or UAT Support or Development role (financial industry experience).
  • Good understanding in multiple technologies from list below:
    • Core Java, Spring framework, SQL
    • Operating Systems: UNIX, Linux
    • Scripting: Shell Scripting, Perl Scripting
    • Job Scheduler: Quartz, Autosys
    • Database technologies across Sybase/Oracle/MongoDB.
  • Good at working with batch jobs and SLA's.
  • Some experience in Risk Management and Reporting vertical with specific experience in Credit Risk, ACE, Regulatory Risk and Audit and able to apply these skills to provide SME support to both technology and business partners in the perspective of supporting the IT applications.
  • Working knowledge in DevOps pipeline tools – Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, RLM, Sonar, Service Now, etc.
  • Understanding in Credit Risk Management/Reporting.
  • Working knowledge with SOAP/Rest web services and/or Open APIs.
  • Working knowledge with multi-Cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS).
  • Banking/finance industry experience is a big plus.
  • Prior experience working on production support role will be good.
  • Issue tracking and reporting using tools.
