Terrific 12+ months contract opportunity in Barrington, Illinois for an Analytical Technician. Will conduct chemical and physical lab analyses to determine the composition and properties of ingredients, production intermediates, and finished products for food and beverage in supporting R&D projects. Will prepare samples for analyses and report data into the system.
 
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Follow all mandated safety and GLP procedures.
  • Perform chemical, physical and instrumental analyses by following standard core methods or research methods, process experimental data, and report the assay results. Test methodologies include: HPLC, GC, Titration, etc.
  • Process samples into forms ready for analysis, such as compositing and/or grinding to homogeneity.
  • Prepare and maintain chemicals, chemical solutions, sample dilutions, and equipment as needed for accurate and reliable analyses.
  • Organize and purge samples on a routine basis.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to assure the reliability of measurement systems.
  • Appropriately document all data in WinLIMS, and accurately communicate results in an appropriate format and in a timely manner.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in a scientific field such as chemistry, food science, biology, etc.
  • Capable of learning and applying various analytical techniques.
  • Experience in and working knowledge of common software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail in the execution of methods and techniques to deliver accurate and timely analytical results
  • Knowledgeable in multiple analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry methods.
  • Capable of and willing to learn a wide range of lab techniques.
  • Must be very familiar with, understand, follow, and execute all GLP.
  • Must understand the normal hazards associated with laboratory work and follow safety procedures in handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Must keep neat, orderly, and complete records.
