It all started back in 1983, when IT staffing was relatively young. We did something that too few staffing firms are known for today: we built long-term relationships. The thought was that you could build a better business if you went out of your way to do right by both your clients and your candidates. Sometimes that cost us. But it also meant that, after who-knows-how-many other firms have come and gone, we grew to be one of the largest, most respected firms of our kind in the nation. Our business evolved as the world changed around us. The latest chapter of our story: MATRIX is joining forces with Motion Recruitment. 1980s

MATRIX Resources, Inc. was founded in Atlanta in 1983 by Lambert Chandler, Frank Glenn, William Gower, Ron
McGinty, and John Scarbrough. As former tech professionals, they set out to match qualified workers with opportunities that would use their skills and advance their IT careers. Our footprint grew, and our staffing model evolved.

  • In 1986, we opened our second office in Dallas, TX.

  • In 1987, we began staffing contract jobs in addition to permanent placements.

Our expansion continued to new tech markets in the 90s and we experienced rapid growth and success with national and local recognitions.

MATRIX revenue surpassed $200 million in the early 2000s. Though the dot-com bust created setbacks, we weathered the storm and came out stronger. We continued to expand our
geographic footprint and launched new solution offerings, all the while achieving national and local top employer accolades.

In 2013, MATRIX announced veteran sales leader, Gary Wood, as President of IT Services. Gary was later named to CEO in 2018. Over the last 10 years, Staffing Industry Analysts has consistently ranked MATRIX as a Top 25 U.S. IT Staffing & Services firm
