The MATRIX Diversity and Inclusion committee has identified some important objectives for the future. Some of these plans will be implemented relatively quickly while others will take longer, but we are committed to investing the time and effort necessary to see sustainable change.
The three pillars of our Diversity and Inclusion platform are as follows:
To acknowledge that MATRIX has an opportunity to improve in recruiting, retaining and promoting diverse employees. Initially, this will include examining and revising our internal hiring and internship practices to ensure that diverse candidates and existing diverse employees are actively sought, fairly evaluated, and objectively considered for open positions.
Starting with leadership and then encompassing the organization at large, MATRIX will provide resources and opportunities to learn more about diversity and inclusion issues and meaningfully support entities and causes that promote harmony and equality. This might include creation of a resource list of relevant books/articles to read, bias-training sessions to attend, organizations to individually donate to, and minority-owned businesses to partner with or help support.
MATRIX has a unique opportunity to positively impact the placing of diverse candidates with the clients we support. Our clients are already requesting this support and we feel we can add significant value in this area. We will examine our existing sourcing and recruiting processes with an eye to better focus on diverse candidates and to partner with organizations that support or promote diverse and minority interests. This could include third-party minority-owned companies, educational institutions, professional organizations, user groups, and non-profits.
We understand we have work to do in our commitment to promoting a more diverse workplace. It is incumbent upon our entire company to adhere to and achieve the goals we have stated above, so that we foster a more vibrant culture and socially-conscious perspective in the future.
